Minion Instability questions
I am making a build using Minion Instability. I need to know a few things that I cant find much info on. Firstly, do any support gems or stats impact any aspect of the explosion? Like can I boost the radius at all? Is the damage impacted by any modifiers to any kind of damage or is it flat minion life only?
The idea is I plan to use CoC for skeletons and either Herald of Agony or Purity, both linked with infernal legion so they explode shortly after being summoned. Im thinking I will need From Dust so I dont overcycle the skeletons. I am also unsure which would be better between agony and purity. I think agony would add more to the damage of my attack skill, but purity seems like it would provide the superior explosion DPS considering the fact that there are 4 max possible purity minions but only 1 max agony crawler. I am also thinking of Skitterbots as an option somewhere in here, but I dont think that would work well if even at all. They dont do damage and arent there for combat, so they probably have nearly no life and I know they dont do burning damage with Infernal Legion, so then maybe they wouldnt do any damage at all with MI? This setup will leave me with 2 open slots in a possible 6l. I know I want one of them to be minion life for stronger explosions, but idk about the last one. Im thinking possibly melee physical support so I get more attack skill damage and the skeletons hit harder before exploding, but that feels like kind of a waste, like id be better off with empower. I was considering possibly the idea of using SRS in the 6th slot, but im unsure how CoC responds to multiple spells being linked with it. My hope with that idea is that when From Dust is preventing CoC from casting the skeletons, CoC will instead be casting raging spirits which will also ignite and explode. Again though, idk if that would be better then just using empower. Also, I have considered concentrated/increased effect to go in this 6th slot, but idk if either of those will do anything to the explosions from MI. One last thing, please dont post a reply going on about how there are better options and whatever else. I may not be super pro at PoE, but Im not some newbie who doesnt know his a$$ from a Chaos Orb. I am doing this build because its fun and thats pretty much it, but I do want to make it the best version of this build that it can be while still being THIS BUILD and not something else. The wiki has a list of supports that specifically scale the explosion:

Just to add - incr. area damage & AoE nodes on skill tree scale explosions as well.

"Eh, not for minion instability they don't. I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

Because minion instability has minion tag, or?
AFAIK generic area damage scales secondary explosions. If it's tagged, I'm sorry for the false info. This is a buff © 2016

" how it is tagged is irrelevant MI damage is damage done by your minions -> all the usual rules for minions apply. So none of your stats apply to minions unless stated otherwise ways to scale it: * minion damage mods, minion life mods, allies mods * support gems * mods affecting damage on enemy side - dubuffs like curses, damage taken etc IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Mar 4, 2021, 8:22:22 AM

So in short - it's tagged. Got it.
And yes, it's relevant. It's the tag which defines the functionality and interactions. This is a buff © 2016

Yes and No
Look at SRS, it has spell tag, yet, spell damage does nothing but melee physical damage support affects its damage.. LA has area tag but area damage does nothing.. etc, etc you have been around for around 8 years and still seem to have trouble with basic mechanics (not only in this thread), maybe its time to reconsider your strategy of reading and understanding game interactions IGN: Eric_Lindros

Nah, it's you who don't get what it is about.
Minion tag within the code is what makes the difference, as it defines the interactions. There's no such thing as "minions by default because minions". There's no "yes and no". It's tagged while coded to make it function one way or another. Speaking of secondary damage, which is a whole different thing than main source, I was uncertain if MI explosion was tagged. It appear it is. Even secondary damage unrelated to minions interacts in a specific way with modifiers, and is not considered precisely "you". Find some time to provide links about my incompetence in game mechanics, with thread links. I guess it'll take a couple of minutes, you appear to know what you are talking about. At least that's what you should be ready to do when shitting over someone. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo#7228 on Mar 4, 2021, 9:53:42 AM
