Why is Taryn's Shiver considered good for Freezing Pulse?

This thread went from discussing items to babbycorers getting all defensive.

If you are going to try to beat out Taryn's Shiver you are going to have to show better gear than that. If that specter had +2 cold gem people might have considered doing the math but it was +2 fire gem. The main problem is the + skill affixes are not on the 6 sockets unless its a 2 handed which would make it a staff or chest.

We are most likely to get the stats we want from staffs. Taryn's Shiver gives us almost everything we want. I wish it would give us +2 cold cold skills but oh well its the best thing going right now.

You put your FP in your 5/6L Armor, or in a 4L anything. Never in your weapon, unless you're FORCED to use a Staff. So +X to Gems is worthless (again, unless it's on a Staff or a Chest).

The staff passives at the very top of the tree.

Right, I think this is the case. If you use Kaom's, then it's good because you need a 5L/6L from your weap. Otherwise, it's just not out-damaging great rare weapons/shields and you lose a lot of life.

The big pay off is all the stats of Taryn's Shiver help cold builds plus its a 6 slot. This can be your second 6 slot or your only 6 slot if you have Kaom's Heart.
