My first POE account ever, was banned after only 3 days of playing, why?
|
Hello everyone, I am new POE player who was banned 3 days after starting playing the game for the first time in life, with the "Too Many Accounts" reason provided…
Ban happened at the very moment I hit lvl 40 in game, leading me to guess, maybe it was automatic. In these 3 days, I never logged in to any other POE account, never played in party with anyone, never traded items (my account does not have any valuables or high level items at all), and never even posted in chat. You can only do so much in 3 days. The only "sin" I can think of, is usage of dynamic IP. My hardware configuration also was not changed, other than usb peripherals. I don’t know if they track hwid here. Ban appeal is at "Pending Review" status for 48 hours by now, and in the absence of other information, I have a suspicion, that it will stay so forever, which makes me feel pretty offended. What purpose could IP tracking alone serve in 2021? If developers here really trying to fight abusers with such methods, my case could be viewed as “acceptable collateral damage”, not worthy of time and effort to investigate. So, point is, I would be happy to hear and answer any actual charges the based developers have. If they confused me with some known offender, why do not look at speech patterns, for example? Original banned account name is Echothesis, this second account is created just now, 48 hours after ban, with no intention of playing from it. Ironically, someone forced the actual creation of “Too Many Accounts” with this ban. Last bumped on Feb 24, 2021, 3:20:16 PM

" First, when an account gets banned and you appeal this ban that means a "process" is started with the account investigation team. This is a seperate department inside GGG (witch is why GGG support can't help you here or answer any questions related to it) and sadly it doesn't give any updates about the process. It can take from a few hours until 4+ weeks. Clearly they believe that you are multiaccounting (per the reason given - you are allowed 2 have to active account per physical pc as a maximum BUT no use of a hypervisor or automation). Are you living in a "dorm" or using "public / shared" WiFi / internet connection ? ALL cases that is appealed is reviewed by staff before a final ruling are made. I do not use shared internet connection, but my network configuration currently means dynamic IP unfortunately.
I never thought it to be punishable, since almost anyone can change their ip by a number of means, like resetting a router. 4+ weeks is very sad, especially compared to 3 days playtime, lol. I could probably level a new character by then, but what is the point, with such policy here? Are cases like mine frequent here? |

" there is nothing wrong with the use of dynamich IP at all. That is 100% fine. This is NOT the reason why you were banned. Like I said, they clearly think you are multi accounting and if you never let anyone use your personal pc then or play from a web cafe, then all should be fine. You will just have to wait until the appeal has been processed. |

Hm, maybe the reason was my frequent reloginning, maybe once per hour of playtime. But I was just quitting to read POE wiki, since it is a complex game, by aRPG standards, and I am new here

" why don't you just "alt-tab" into the WiKi tab on your browser or use a dual screen setup if possible. Again, GGG support can't help and will not answer here so you will have to wait for your appeal to be processed. |

Because I was a bit short on internet traffic back then, and I do not have a second screen.
I understand, thank you very much for your time. |

" The you will not like to play PoE because it uses A LOT of internet data. |

If you have submitted your ban appeal already, please be patient. Our team will work through to review yours as soon as we can manage. I apologise for the delay.

Day 4, waiting patiently. My time in ban is already exceeding my total time in game :)
If I was guilty of "Too Many Accounts", one can only applaud the "Investigators" response speed. But If I was not, it would mean that they never had actual solid proof against me. Simply could not have had. Yet they still proceeded and banned me. Which would mean there is a global policy in place: better ban an innocent than let the guilty go. Which somewhat contradicts the small thing called "Presumption of innocence". If I was accustomed to creating a lot of accounts, why on earth would I even try to resolve this situation instead of start playing anew? My account (Echothesis) has absolutely nothing valuable in it, I can unlock the stash tab view for everyone to see. And lvl 40 is nothing in terms of progression here, I learned that much. If esteemed Investigators have so large que on their hands, that ban appeal can take up to 4+ weeks, maybe they could consider investigating things before the ban, and not after?) |
