Am i too bad as a casual player or they keeep making it hard??
" Try doing the side content. Maps don't drop many chaos orbs unless you riddle them with juice. To get a good chaos income from maps alone you need either lots of juice or just run them real fast. But sidecontent like Alvatemple (wealth of the vaal room) and delve cities/currency nodes can provide lots of currency, including Chaos. Mao Kun unique map is also a nice currency source if your more on the casual side of things. |

The richtest people in Path of Exile don´t just "farm maps". That´s not a viable strategy and it hasn´t been for a very long time. For farming money you need a concept.
Meaning: 1) I want to farm maps Okay, figure out what kind of drops you expect a)Headhunters? Get MF, go nemesis mod, speed farming, 50 seconds a map, get as much minions on it as possible (Breaches, Alvas, Legions) and so on. b)Currency? Juice it up, 40-100% delirium 2) Simulacrums: Dont just farm them, buy them, run them exclusively. Figure out a build that gets to 5 stacks of loot on a regular basis. 3) boss killing 4) tbc... Yes, the very richest people will always be crafter. That´s just how things are. That doesn´t mean you cannot get good profit. ESPECIALLY with the 3.13 update on the atlas tree mechanics you can literally tailor the content you want to run and farm. Work with that, think about what people want and how you get it to make money. There is a very nice organ located between your ears. If you use this one, then you can make money in Poe. |

Challenges aren't indicative of skill - they're a pretty dumb carrot on a stick which miraculously works.
I've never done a single challenge consciously as "Open a map 1337 times" sounds like a boring waste of time. Challenges rather demonstrate someone's nolife status and lack of imagination. I didn't read much of the thread, but unlike another thread where someone complains that the game should be easier, you seem more humble.
So I sugges you contact the user Orbaal, who offered to help the OP in aforementioned thread. Just tell them, that you saw their post (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3007957/page/8) and want to improve. Ask if you can take them up on their offer. :) Good luck on improving! I suggest you make a bunch of research. EG: Doing the chaos recipe is only worthwhile if you're practiced and efficient. You spend too much time picking things up, compared to other methods if you aren't. (there's a new 3rd party tool, that will make it efficient for any player, if you're willing to set it up and use it. Look up PathOfMatth's new video about it). Moneymaking in PoE is mostly about knowledge. Anyone can make mirrors/day regardless of mechanical skill, if they have the knowledge to make up for it. :) In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

You're playing a game. You're not doing anything wrong if you enjoy yourself.
What you're doing wrong is assuming that your rewards for playing are going to be comparable to the rewards that a skilled person who is working at it are. You're just not going to see that. My bet is that you could, but you would find the job not fun at all and wonder why people did it. People have different reward mechanisms and yours don't seem to match your play. Quit thinking this currency we're finding has value. It doesn't. You're killing stuff to find stuff that lets you kill other stuff. That's what it boils down to. I would much rather look back and say "I enjoyed playing PoE" than look back and say "I made 100 mirrors in a single league once". Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Jan 12, 2021, 8:08:47 AM

" I wouldn't give up quite yet. Due to work/life/vacation schedules, there have been numerous times where I have been unable to start a new league on the first few days. There have been other leagues where I have intentionally waited a few weeks to start. I have discovered a couple of things through this. 1) There's been enough time for people to have tried out various starter builds and see what still works in red maps or beyond. Some builds seem great before league launch, but by day 4 or 5 really don't pan out well. 2)A lot of starter build gear becomes fairly cheap. You won't be finding enough chaos recipe stuff to fund most of your gear, but you can farm and save up enough alt orbs. To that end: Only upgrade your gear when it is slowing down your advancement through the story line. Pick up enough rare stuff to sell when you reach the next wp or portal to town. Think of each transmute orb as 4 wisdom scrolls - which will probably turn into one alt orb. 4-5 alt orbs will likely be worth a chaos, because the people crafting high end gear need a bazillion alt orbs to do so. By the time you finish act 10, you should have 120-200 alt orbs in your stash. That will get you enough chaos to flesh out your build and start mapping. You can then do a combination of collecting alt orbs and chaos recipe to start building another mini horde. How rich? Without much effort or playing speed, and just being frugal and efficient in picking up and selling, you should be able to net one ex plus worth of chaos by the time you hit yellow maps. For most players, this isn't even worth the effort. For a slow player 2-3 weeks into a league, one ex will buy you a fairly decent key item of your build. Repeat this 3-4 times and now your build is ready for red maps. You won't get rich this way. You won't be able to afford the top items. You will be able to get some gear that is far too expensive early in a league, and that becomes far too expensive late in a league. For example, last league I bought 3 of the four large cluster jewels my build needed for less than one ex. Some I picked up for 8 chaos. I kept playing, and didn't bother looking for the fourth large cluster jewel until a week later. Now, the cheapest one was 8 ex. Out of my budget. Kept periodically checking and the price reached 20+ exalted. I was still able to make the build work, just took a few more levels and a cheaper jewel. Find what makes you happy playing the game. For me, it is a steady advancement. The speed isn't important. If I hit some roadblocks and the game becomes frustrating, it might be time to quit playing for the day and do something different. It might be time to look for a item upgrade, or tweak the build. Is my character dying too often? Is it killing to slow? Fortunately there are a lot of players who are very skilled at making builds and explaining them. It may take some effort to read up on, or watch that information, but in the end it could save you a lot of time and headaches. In any case, I wish you good luck and enjoyable gaming (or fun doing whatever). "The only legitimate use of a computer is to play games." - Eugene Jarvis

Poe is more about playing time than anything else, even if you are not as good as someone else if you invested the right amount of time you will do all the content.

" I suspect some of these 12 will be vendor recipes and crafting. If you are struggling really hard, try to look at a build for the class and play style you are using. Not all active skills/support gems are made equal or useful. |
