please ban all streamers if you banning players for same thing
" What? You aren't allowed to connect to game servers with anything but official Path_of_Exile.exe. Trade API is made to be interacted with 3rd party tools, lol, if you think about it, even Google Chrome/Safari is 3rd party tool and you do use it to trade, not the game client, since game client don't have any options to interact with Trade API (perform search or anything). See also this announcment: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2036957 You're allowed to use Trade API with any tool, the end, given you do not spam it and respect rate-limiter. This is the reason they added 5 minute delay instead of banning everyone or using strict whitelist for access. If you actually aren't allowed to interact with API, this would mean that even Path of Building is prohibited, because it extracts the character data from the site (Import function). You're right on two action per keystroke, if some tool sending message AND kicking/inviting with single key press, it isn't allowed. " the trade api runs on a different server than the game servers. game servers are the servers only the client connects to. --- imho, if you supported over a certain amount, you can't use scripts anymore if you haven't got any knowledge what the current version actually does. there are perfectly legit "one button disconnect" scripts which check some servers for a exe on every start and download it if it's newer (exe is used to inject the tcp_fin packet into the running client/server communication. first thing you have to do, is, to run the stuff you downloaded through www.virustotal.com and then manually remove every update functionality in the scipts. if there are executables, you need to recompile them from source, if there is no source it's risky to use it. trusting software to do what strangers on the internet told you it does is ok if the worst thing that could happen is bearable for you. --- to the question of streamers being allowed more than the average player ... of course. streamers are ggg's only advertisement department beside bex memeing on reddit and twitter. they're even allowed to rmt with their folks as they officially accept dollars from the folks they play with. so ... maybe the solution is to become a successful streamer? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" Above quoted section got me really intrigued. Are you saying streamers are above ToS/EULA GGG imposes on all of its players? Also, the claim that streamers RMT with their followers is really stretching the reality. I'm remember very well when Quin9 got temporarily suspended for promoting, jokingly or not, RMT on his stream. If streamers engaged in behavior considered RMT byt GGG, I can not see how would GGG not act on it. Taking donations on Twitch can not be considered RMT in relation to Path of Exile. GGG made it clear long time ago they do not want streamers to do hand-out or raffles for items because that could be used to disguise RMT. None of large streamers do any hand-outs or raffles anymore except for mystery boxes that are provided and sanctioned by GGG. Hell, most streamers do not even take hand-outs to make sure they are not accused of anything shady. Would you care to elaborate for others where is your position coming from? |

" So Trade Companion and similar apps are not allowed. Good to know. I can live without Trade Companion but Price Checker is a must. I would be strait up on a verge to play the game or not if i had to manually check every piece of gear. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen#1295 on Nov 29, 2020, 5:58:58 AM

" Because they do more than 1 action per mouse click on a game server. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen#1295 on Nov 29, 2020, 6:07:22 AM

" You are confusing game server actions for any actions unrelated to the game itself. GGG has a stance that you can only run macros that perform single game server action, ie. using 1 potion, per button press. This is not the same as using trade macro that copy item info (one action) and than compares it to publicly available information on 3rd party web site or GGG-owned trade site (another action or set of actions). Keep in mind that all of this is to prevent automation in the game and use of bots that would ruin the game's economy. Trade macros are convenience/QoL tools that allow you to more quickly find certain information but does not give you any direct in-game advantage as opposed to illegal macros. " No i'm not. I was talking about Trade Companion. See few posts above. Being trading QoL or not, it's violating the ToS and in fact making more than 1 action per click. It's just a part of boting trade process, nonetheless it's in a way trading automation and it's not allowed. I'm certainly not going to use anything that does that in future. " You are either purposefully disregarding distinction between 1 action and 1 server-side action or your reading comprehension is rather low. GGG expressly prohibits macros that would perform more than 1 server-side action per button press. Trading macros are not violating that. |

" Message + /kick or /invite are 2 actions and automation. Pls read the whole thread. Even Chris said that app doing line of text is ok. This is more than that. Sending mesaage and inviting are 2 actions processed by server. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen#1295 on Nov 29, 2020, 8:25:53 AM

I'm not going to argue with you, i just have some free time while waiting for hourly deals, so the last thing I'm going to say is this..
If GGG would feel anything done by those popular tools is breaching their ToS/EULA, they would step in. They might even comment on these forums or on Reddit. They did neither. Lastly, I find opening post of this thread ridiculous because it calls for punishment of others for a perceived transgression someone else committed and was caught at it. This is false argument and also an asshole move. GGG would not act on such request nor they need such request to take any action because they have their own tools and processes they follow. |
