please ban all streamers if you banning players for same thing
" Anyone who knows of this friend would vouch for him 100%. He streamed on our discord disclosing everything he was doing and has made several build guides. He is the dedicated player who would encourage new and old players to give the company another chance. While he is trying to connect with support , it falls on deaf ears as there is little oversight within the support teams. Having dealt with them before they have given me conflicting information and then refused to back up what they said would happen even though it was part of the email thread. Their review process is non-existant. That being said, i repeat. If the streamers can use the programs then everyone should be able to. No double standards. The silence from GGG and moderators is indeed the problem with this. More oversight and review is needed for false positives and GGG needs to make a statement about which marco/tools are allowed and which break the terms of service. |

" Sorry but you are wrong. Have you even read Terms? Again Terms of Use 7. Restrictions: Under no circumstances, without the prior written approval of Grinding Gear Games, may you: c. Utilise any automated software or ‘bots’ in relation to your access or use of the Website, Materials or Services. e. Connect to the Servers through any software other than the authorised game client software. f. Use any data gathering and extraction tools or software to extract information from the Website or utilize framing techniques to enclose any of the contents of the Website. So no, 3rd party apps that uses GGG servers are restricted and may be the reason for ban. Using simple Trade Companion that says "Ty!" is a automated multiple action activity. Price checker? Connecting to servers and extracting informations. In Delirium many got banned for using PoE Overlay until it was "revised" to make less load on servers and got blind eye from GGG. Since so many players are using those tools they ain't going to ban them all but surely you can eat a ban any day without notice or explanation. There is a reason why Mathil does everything manually and it's not because he's some diehard PoE pedestrian. Dude takes his job seriously and doesn't want to have any possible problem that might jeopardize his job or give bad example to viewers that might get banned for doing something they saw from him. " Price check do not uses PoE servers at all, it uses Windows clipboard. Did you even try to Ctrl+C on item without macro and then Ctrl+V that in Notepad? This is the text that macro processes. " No it's not, it's single action, and it was always allowed as long as it's single action per click. I even asked Chris about that. See also Sarno's guide. ![]() " They were banned because they literally made millions of requests, which was a DDoS attack like behaviour. " He is just weird. I personally don't even think he's worth watching, unless you're market player and want to buy cheap/sell expensive. Quite disappointed in his incompetence after one of latests podcasts with Chris. CuteDog, Zizaran, Empyrean and multiple other popular streamers using those tools without any problems, and it's just as professional for them. |

" This. There should never be guesswork or speculation on the part of players as to whether or not we're violating the terms of service; if there is, those terms require a revision for more clarity. Rules cannot be fairly or consistently enforced if they are unclear, full stop. Faith in GGG takes a big hit if there are rumors all over the place about reckless or unjustifiable account bans - or blatant favoritism towards players with more followers. Few players can feel secure spending money in that environment. Those rumors could be mostly false, but nonetheless will do a lot of harm if GGG remains silent and unwilling to spell out what their rules and procedures are. I believe it's in GGG's interest to address this topic directly, if for no other reason to get out ahead of these stories as they continue to pop up. I should also mention I know the OP and the person who was banned, and can vouch for them. The banned player was not engaging in RMT or botting, which are common reasons for bans. Their trade or price check macro must have been the source of the ban, but once again the problem is GGG's glaring lack of communication about what those macros are and are not allowed to do (and inconsistent enforcement). We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

" You are wrong again. Price Checkers use Trade API and they extract info, reason for ban, As Chris said to your reply "having a macro that pastes /hideout or line of text..." Trade Companion makes multiple actions when you click "invite". It makes "invite player" action and sends message. Same when you are finishing trade "Ty!" text and "kick" action. So, reason for ban. About streamers, yeah they are doing it wrong and without repercussions. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen#1295 on Nov 28, 2020, 6:59:27 PM

" That's the problem, though: you can't. There's a reason Hearsay isn't admissible as evidence in any court I've ever heard of: not in the US, not in Australia, not in England or Brazil or... honestly, I have no idea about Russia and Google failed me there, but you get the idea? OP's friend has every single possible reason to lie about this situation, including the strongest reason of all: they cannot be caught in this lie so long as GGG doesn't publicly release/reveal ban information. I'm not saying they're definitely lying, I'm saying nobody has any way to know what the facts of the matter are. Feelings and opinions are not evidence, which is why these threads (as I stated yesterday in a near-identical thread) are pointless circle-jerks of pure conjecture: not just unsubstantiated, but unsubstantiatable. |
|
" You're absolutely right (I mean, I can vouch, but nobody has reason to trust that the vouch is based on accurate information, regardless of my own honesty or sincere belief). And this is more reason for GGG to clarify their policies: the vagueness surrounding what behavior results in an account ban can drive unsubstantiated accusations. If we, as a playerbase, had confidence that accounts are only banned when they engage in x, y, and z behavior as clearly laid out in the terms of service, and that customer service provides appropriate information to the player who was banned laying out exactly which terms they violated, we could then assume that the OP's friend must have engaged in that behavior and there'd be no need to have a back-and-forth about it. If we had confidence that GGG was serious about implementing consequences for rule violations consistently, fairly, and transparently, then none of this would be necessary - and anyone thinking about buying an MTX could feel confident their money wouldn't be wasted because of an out-of-the-blue ban. I don't have that confidence at the moment given the stories I've been hearing and the fact that one of these cases affected someone I know. I could potentially regain that confidence if GGG would address the matter, including how they can improve rule enforcement against streamers, and if the individuals affected attested to more positive interactions with customer support than they seem to have had. To me, this is less about arguing whether any specific person deserved a ban or not, and more about communication from GGG. The main crux of my argument is not to defend anyone who was banned; it's to ask for better guidance so that other players know they won't be if they follow the rules. We're all in this leaky boat together, people. Last edited by demon9675#2961 on Nov 28, 2020, 7:40:02 PM

Yep, regardless if the OPs friend is full of shit, the list of approved or whitelisted tools should be released, even if it would be a process when the tool developer provides all documentation and the whole process might take a year long waiting line
Just to get some tick on a checkbox somewhere "this version of this tool was approved on this date" I personally use nothing but exile buddy and even if it just passively reads shit, I know it interacts with the web API, not just the passive client log reading. It kinda scares shit out of me if I'd get banned for something like that considering the amount of $$$$ in packs on my count, but the added value is simply too good. I don't think anybody ever got banned for Exile Buddy but technically it could be argued, it is third party, it automates operations and could be put into the "banned tools list". But we will never know because there isn't even a banned tool list. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

They can't spend time on whitelisting mod versions... They have a clear rule. 1 Server side action per keyclick. If the mod does more than that then it is illegal. It is not hard to understand the mechanic behind that.
Also the OP needs to realise his/her friend has been breaking the rules and not telling about it. xD |

I think the first question should be how do you know your friend got banned because of a trade macro and not something else? Or are you just assuming it was the trade macro?
