The Syndicate Mastermind Bossfight is the worst encounter PoE has had in a long time.

Catarona was the sloppiest boss before Sirus IMO but ironically shares almost all the same problems, instead of green washout we have red washout. Sirus has better sound design is the only reason I think catarona might be worse as you can loosely play Sirus without being able to see.

The flipside is Catarona is pretty easy now due to being content that is substantially older so we've had like 5 leagues of power creep since then. Very easy to do enough damage to trivialise the fight especially on SC with 6 portals.

Not quite as easy on HC but i'd still feel pretty comfortable on most characters going into it.

To give a more detailed response, sure, Cat is unintuitive because of the color scheme and because all of ARPG/MMO gameplay has taught you to not stand on glowing skulls on the ground. It sucks.

HOWEVER. If you watch 1 youtube video on Catarina, you will beat the fight, no doubt. Even if its your first time. Sirus on the other hand...

Cant tell which is worse, her or Sirus.

I would say Sirus, because much of the fight not only is Sirus invulnerable, but you also have nothing to do but stand there and wait to go back under his cheap back attachment MTX.

For both, you are silly if you try them without watching the fight first.
