FIX YOUR RNG twilight mystery box PLEASE!!!

Yep.

That said it is still inherently predatory. Op clearly has some difficulty resisting gambling and games like PoE exploit that personality type mercilessly. Its not that its not pay to win that makes it moral or immoral. Its the basic mechanism of gambling for something desirable.

This is the dirty truth of PoE's so-called ethical stance: just because the mtxes don't affect gameplay doesn't mean they are not prime pivots for unethical levels of gambling.

I wouldn't exactly call it unethical or predatory to create loot boxes for items that doesn't affect the gameplay in other ways than visual. They are in no way needed to complete the game or make a powerful character.

While gambling to some feels unethical on it's own, it's effectively no different than making drops RNG dependant, the only difference is the investment; Your time or your money.

I used to feel the same way. Then I learned a little too much about the business. The pivots of psychological manipulation. The mechanics of exploitation.

I MISS feeling the same way, because it made it much easier to victim-blame in the name of autonomy and personal responsibility. I was raised to believe in those...by two very high functioning alcoholics who gambled aggressively their entire marriage. Thankfully, as with my contributions to GGG, they knew their limits despite seeming out of control, but I recognised it only after I quit supporting GGG as I did: excessive gambling and/or financial impropriety is a coping mechanism for weak-willed hedonists.

And I reckon PoE has more than its share of those, gobbling up titles and tearing through loot boxes every chance they can.

In Chris' defence, if he ever noticed a serious whale seemingly off the rails, I think he would at least say something to them. Like any good MtG junkie of copious means, he has seen his share of people gambling themselves into ruin.
Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: where shotgunning is not only not nerfed, it is deeply encouraged.

Dogma > Souls, but they're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.

I was right about PoE2 needing to be a separate, new game. It was really obvious.

I really want to know if there are people who lose big in casinos and then walk over to the floor boss and scream "FIX YOUR RNG."

LOL. I can't really picture Krillson doing this, but I certainly enjoyed the visual.
