Hardcore RIP videos on youtube are a joke.
dont mix your (individual) opinion with facts
POE is stagnant playerbase-wise on PC. this is a fact. pandemic had no visible effect on players count. locking 1bil people for months had no effect this game's playerbase size. let that sink in. everything else is an opinion. in my opinion making this game one-dimensional speed bonanza is a risky thing business-wise because it drives away non-speed-junkies. any monoculture is less resilient than mixed environment (this is a fact btw). GGG has no option - they cannot suddenly change course when large part of playebase wont accept it. they are held hostage by their own customers - this is why monoculture in business should be handled well. even apple decided to sell 'cheap' phones beause they knew sticking to 'rich, posh' does not scale well in the long run so calm down, POE will remain speed-drug but dont be surprised when youll start experiencing delays in trade because there are no players to trade with.. |

" I checked top10 on steamcharts and no other game had long-term increase of playerbase because of lockdowns. Some had like 1-2 months increase, and then back to standard values. See PUBG, Dota, GTA 5 etc. " 70-120K in first month (and that's just on Steam, there are also stand-alone players) is more than enough to have live market :) |

The state of hc is a lot more tame than it was in the past.
Things like instant flameblood explosions, reflect packs, and even entire leagues like invasion were much more bullshit than most things that are happening in the current game. It's really hard for me to name any true bullshit mechanics in this day and age, and the top echelons of hc players die on average.. once every 3-4 leagues and some of them don't even use logout macro. That goes to show that almost everything in this game these days can in fact be dealt with in a calculated manner. |

" I think I confused the threads... This was not supposed to be posted here. On topic: the worst decision was to accept and balance around logout macros. Even worse is to balance around the only way to kill players with op builds: spiky damage and one shots. People can argue all they want about "but it's visible just dodge!" but with the clusterfuck of graphics. Hell sometimes you can't even see yourself and I play with no mtx. PoE could be more intelligent in the way they deal with powercreep and oneshots, but I doubt anything will change with PoE2. "There's no thing like random one-shots in this game. You only die because you take 353,456,237 hits in 0.2 seconds."

"I actually agree with this. Very few mechanics don't have some counter play involved (Izaro Liutennants are probably one of the few things that don't if you aren't aware of what they do because I recently found out they don't telegraph their reflect aura like the Racecourse boss does). Usually it's just unfortunate circumstances or running too many damage mods in a map. Last edited by VolcanoElixir#1787 on Nov 4, 2020, 10:05:31 AM

" You couldn't have been watching the same league as we were. Top HC players were dying left and right to Heist encounters and random aura stacked mobs or on twinned maps to random crits. Sure, more tame than in the past but that's no metric for where it could be. |

" Who do you consider to be a top hc player? Off the top of my head I think of steelmage, darkee, uber dan, alk, oskarum, etc. I think steel and alk were the only 2 players that even died once this league and both of them were because of bugs and not the intended balance of the game. Everyone else is dying like normal. And that's how it should be. HC wouldn't be that enticing if the game was too easy like d3. But on the other hand I do agree heist was kind of overtuned on release, but that is imo a byproduct of poe not having beta testing, and I don't mean the meme. This is sort of why a lot of hc players don't even interact with the league mechanic until 2 weeks passes. It sucks but once the balance is settled in you're fine and you still have 11 weeks to play the league. |

"And technically Steelmage's death was avoidable, he kept killing corpses in Heist and then a Soul Conduit monster ran up and spawned everything that he killed around him. The bug was that there were items stuck behind a door that he couldn't get to which made him keep hanging out in Heist longer than he should have. |

The logout macro has made HC, not so HC. I have tons of respect for the HC players that can reach high levels without using the macro, with the exception of extreme lag issues or something. Those that make constant use of it, especially when they are about to die, not so much.
Just my opinion obviously. A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Yep, I just died in a heist to a crash with absolutely no mobs around me. Aura stacker in HC btw, so I just don't get it. This league has been the most frustrating I've ever played.
I was going to play for another month or so, but at this point I've put everything into this build and to die to a crash is just the most insulting thing. In past leagues I maybe had 1-2 crashes per league, but this league it's 1/10 or 1/15 heists. Please don't let this league go core. It's been almost 2 months and the fact that this isn't fixed yet its unacceptable. |
