[Could not connect to patching server - SOLVED] + New screen tearing issue

I have just entered my CBT key and installed the Path of Exile client, however every time I try to enter it, it has to patch and it keeps giving me this error:

"Unable to connect to patching server"

I mention that the firewall is disabled and that Path of Exile folder is added in the exception list for every Avast! shield I have enabled. I have also tried running it as administrator but with no luck.

I have Win 7 64 bit and every existing driver is up to date. My notebook configuration is:

CPU: i7 2.2 ghz
GPU: Nvidia GT 525M
RAM: 6 giga DDR3
HDD: 640 giga with over 40 giga free room

Are there any solutions to this problem?

Such errors are usually from a firewall blocking a connection. Try whitelisting the application on the firewall too.

See above ^
I assume your router has a firewall too.

Oh that. Sorry, I misunderstood then.

Well I live in a dorm so I have no access to the main router. But I can play online games from here ( BF3, Tribes Ascend, etc).
I believe the problem is still on your computer. Disabling a Firewall does not always DISABLE the blocks applied.

This is where uninstalling a Firewall is sometimes the only choice.

U think that the only thing that could be preventing the connection from the Main Router would be the packet type, which I would assume is the same as other games, so thats a null choice.

OS: WinXP SP2 32bit
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Ram : 4GB Kingston PC2-6400 5-5-5-18
Mobo: Abit KN9-Sli (NF570-Sli chipset with Realtek Audio)
GPU: ATI HD4670 1GB
HD: Maxtor 20GB - OS - Seagate 500GB - Games / Storage / PageFile
Network / ISP: Wired / Cox Cable

Well, the firewall was disabled before I installed the Path of Exile downloader. It's Windows Firewall, so it can't be uninstalled unfortunately.

Just to check on something else....Which version of AVAST are you using?

4 / 5 / 6 / 7 - Free / Pro / Internet Security.

Avast 7 Free, but it doesn't matter since I have tried disabling all shields for 10 min and then trying to patch the game, with no luck.

Oh and I tried Tracert patchcdn.pathofexile.com

Went perfectly, no blocked connections and the latency was decent to very good.
