Feeling like I am the worst Evil who has ever existed in the whole Wraeclast while playing Heist..

Don't forget that the Witch is child murderer. Also admires Piety's experiments.
The Ranger hates human's civilisation and thinks it's kind of disease on the world.
The Scion is actually insane and hears bosses' voices in the head.
The Shadow is an assassin (already a hired killer)

4/7 Exiles are certainly not "Good", so it feels weird to read that Exile is a selfless hero.
This is a story of survival, not of "heroes".
ITT coincidental hero realises 'I only do it for the reward' is not necessarily heroic.

Hypothetical question for you, OP:

Say they added two quests to the game. You can only choose one of the following:

1) rescue some children from a bandit lord. Quest takes around an hour, involves a lot of back and forth to investigate their location, how to infiltrate the bandit lord's lair without accidentally killing the kids. The bandit lord is very poor, as are the parents of the children. Reward: 1 chaos orb.

2) kill some rabbits that have been terrorising a farmer's fields. Quest takes about a minute. The farmer works for a bandit lord who is very rich. Reward: 10 exalted orbs.

Which would you choose?

Be honest now and tell me just how heroic you really are, even in a game where it's pretty much ALL about doing shit for shady people whose enemies just happen to be far shadier.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
Aren't we slaughtering people who are just doing their job in act 3 and 5 too?

Duelist just killed someone for insulting him too. Arguable poaching isn't all the bad for the ranger so still 4 out of 7

A perfectly-missed opportunity to abuse your shift key sporadically.

Stealing from the rich is not evil. And the guards choose to make it life-and-death by trying to kill you even if you don't strike them at all - they've made their choice to put their lives on the line for some bauble.

(On top of that, well, you're not actually forced to kill the guards. You could just avoid them)
How did you feel when the frightened citizens got slaughtered for being in the way of the screen wide skills we wield nowadays?

Interesting. I've never noticed that. Where is this dialogue?
"War's over, soldier. You just don't know it yet. Everybody lost."

I believe a lot of it has been replaced by much saner, if blander, commentary. The original Scion's dialogue was incredibly dense with disjointed observations, seemingly bonkers associations with the denizens of Wræclast, and tourist-guide style announcements. Seems the wiki preserved it though: her original self-introduction, and even commentary on zones that no longer exist.

Well that's really something. What else are we allowed to do to the rich that we can't do to paupers that suddenly becomes moral only because of their bank account? Can we kill them because they are rich too and still 'do no evil'?

Or perhaps if we can take money from them when they have it in abundance can we strike and beat very healthy people with no moral qualms? After all they are 'rich' in health and well-being, so they can 'afford' to lose some of it right?

Or perhaps the infertile couple can steal a child from a family of 7? After all, having been blessed with so many, surely they won't miss 1 or 2 right?

This is a much better argument.

Still quite weird argument.
It's like coming to the bank with lethal weapons and expecting security/police to do nothing while robbing it.
Should the guards just let the thieves to steal everything they want, as long as they don't attack?
