65% Run Speed, 5 Hour Chest Opening Binge..."the results"

Before I get started here, let me show you the premise about IIQ/IIR I am working with. It comes from a GGG dev:

IIQ/IIR from your gear does not affect chests, so there's not point in "gearing up" for the Vaults of Atziri. You may as well wear nothing at all so you can carry more stuff out.

So I did not bother with gear trying to boost IIQ/IIR

Now with that out of the way:

The Set Up:

1) Very bored today with regular POE play so I mixed it up today to see what I would get if I just kept resetting instances and popping all of the chests open like a mad man for 5 hours straight.

2) Got all of the speed gear on I could muster and took off all other pieces so that I could be as light as possible, which was 65% for me.

3) This was all in Act 2 Merciless and the areas are the same level as me.

4) I could get killed in a second if I paused for a moment so I kept hauling ass at top speed and just kept on popping popping popping those chests.

5) only picked up currency, there were a few rares (less than 10) but nothing worth mentioning.

The Results:

Wrap Up

It was boring and I felt I was losing my grip on reality a bit, but overall, I feel as though I got more stuff than my usual 5 hour play period by quite a bit. Although I do not think I will be doing it again soon. I had to go into hundreds of instances and run like a freak, so it really started to get on my damn nerves after a while. I would say 80% of the runs were in the Ruins because it seems to have the greatest concentration of chests.

doesn't sound boring at all! :D

glad you did this experiment as I was thinking of trying something similar. now I have something to compare with. i'll prob do this with high IIQ/IIR on a lower monster level zone than me (fellshrine) and see what happens.
According to http://www.poecalc.com/

This is 2.81 gcp or half an exalt.

This is not counting the quality gems.

Pawning all the low q gems to a merchant will give another gcp.. assuming you can sell the high ones for ~2gcp, you made a little over an exalt in 5 hours of mind numbing pain staking farming.

You'd be much better off buying alts for chaos 20:1 and then trading up the fusings like everyone else is doing.

Everyone else does 16:1...

Just ran this through poecalc myself and came up with 5.56 gcp.

Interesting experiment- thanks for sharing the results. It sounds like a crazy, harrowing experience! I think I'll try it one of these days and share my own results.
I might actually do this some day when exceptionally bored. Just a matter of obtaining a bunch of +movespeed gear. Fuuuuck.

Decent, but you should easily be able to make 3x that amount farming docks just off ORBS with iiq/iir 70%+
