Path of Exile vs Diablo 3
" LOL i know!!! where do you think i got my conclusion from??!! |

" I will say I am enjoying D3 more than expected. It is more difficult than expected. That being said I really don't like the boss fights much. It is just about learning the environment and dodging crap on the ground. I would rather fight a tough boss than an annoying environment. And Vortex / Jailer / Arcane enchanted is broken... lol |

" Sure - a good boss design is nicer than arbitrary "Do this, because we say so" enviroment. But I'd rather have "Do this because we say so" than ThwackThwackThwackThwackThwackThwackThwackThwackFlask ThwackThwackThwackRunAndFlaskThwackThwackThwackThwack ThwackFlaskThwackThwackFlaskThwackThwackThwackFlaskThwack ThwackThwackThwack... Dead Boss. And that pretty much describes the last 10 storyline bosses I've fought in PoE. Including ones people keep bitching about, like Chatters or Kuduku, and Act bosses like Brutus and Merviel - The only things I've died to are (IMO) poor design of the Fetid Pools necromancer (Hmm... I'm level 4 Ranger, so no pierce yet... He raises stuff faster than my attack speed, and I can't shoot between mobs to hit him first, and I can't kite because he just raises more mobs as I kite around.), and going AFK to pee without portaling first. " I like the champions/rares more than the "bosses", some combinations are just crazy hard. It's so much fun! |
|
" Yeah. In a lot of ways it feels like if Dungeon Seige III was actually a decent game. |

" Dave I was laughing so hard, that exact thing I believe I have done a few times also, thanks for the laugh! :o) Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

I actually bought D3 even I didn't like too many things I read about it in the last years or the graphics.
Its sad cause I played the beta and didnt like it and upgraded my supporter pack for POE right after it. Everyone so pumped about D3. Blizzard took my money cause of the hype lol. I only played hardcore... but I felt like I was playing WoW (the looks & crafting). Even if they add pvp & other stuff... I wont like it. It has no soul, no feeling. My time is too precious to waste it. Next time I will have to trust my guts more. RIP Diablo. I just uninstalled it. Gogo PoE OB! Last edited by wasabisamurai#4930 on May 19, 2012, 6:32:56 AM

" Exactly THIS. Fighting in D3 is waaaaaay more interesting than in PoE. And since the genre is called "Hack n Slay" and not "plan your skilltree" i think that D3 is the better game as it is now. PoE becomes dull and boring very fast, imho. The recent updates regarding mob variance are a step into the right direction, but i think there still is much to do. And another important point: When i hit stuff in D3, i hit it with FORCE. I SLAY mobs in D3, not click them to death like in PoE. The feedback coming from the game regarding destruction/mayhem is far better in D3 than in PoE. The last point D3 is way better in: Atmosphere. Ok, you might hate the graphical style, but if you give the artstyle a chance, it's simply awesome. So much detail to the world! The sounddesign rocks as well. The story is nothing too special but interesting enough. DMT:

I really like PoE. I think it is a complex successor of D2.
Sure the combat is more repetetiv and boring than D3 but it was like that in D2. I like to plan builds and have to do choices as I progress my character. I am sure D3 is an amazing game (its Blizzard after all) but forced online play, Real money auction house and the cartoony look made me interessted in alternativs. I will buy D3 regardless since I want to know the story but I do not need it now. I think what PoE does best is the dark look and the creepy enemies, I love the artstyle. Combat is solid D2 style but nothing new. |
