To the person who decided that killing a pet in the story was a good idea, [Removed by Support]

It strikes me as weird how you can slaughter masses of innocent people in many games, but god forbids you can damage a child or an animal, as if them being adult humans made it more OK to murder defenseless people.
Some stuff is disproportionately sacralized.

It's not that weird. Adults are assumed to have more agency than children or animals. That isn't to say that adults can't be innocent victims, only that animals and children are far more likely to be. And then you factor in the conceit of most games in which killing others is condoned or even encouraged: that they had it coming somehow, because the player-character is heroic, or at least anti-heroic. Even PoE, which sets up the Exile as an amoral, anti-social, power-driven outcast, eventually succumbed to this by making most of the Exile's enemies 'worse': the Theocracy, the cult of Kitava, the Godless Three, and the worshippers of the other Gods are all positioned as a more concerted, organised evil than the Exile's brand of self-serving actions. And, in the end, the Exile still saves the day and cleanses Oriath of its ancient foe. Accidental heroism is, in a game, still heroism.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Don't fret folks... I got the cat with me and he is doing fine.
Apparently the one we saw on the floor was a stuffed toy .

Still got quite a fright for the pussy.

Now THAT's a plot twist!

Beside, if it helps OP, Hana's death was staged while they had to put down the artist's real life cat.
I've been through putting down a faithful 15-years companion and I won't lie, were it not for the other furry patients at the vet's clinic I would have walked away from it with way more traumas than I had actually. If any, now I see Hana's death as a way for its creator to share their suffering with the community. Though, admittedly, putting down an animal does not revolve around gutting it with a foil and it's way less messy.

Bisco's owner managed to share their grief with the creation of two of the most powerful find jewellery ever existed (before the massive nerf), while Real Life Hana... just... experienced the trauma twice. That's a rotgut.

Here it is, clear as day, in the official "Heist Lore" announcement from NickK_GGG

"
Writing Kurai's heartbreaking scene was particularly emotional as, during Heist's development, my own cat got sick and had to be put down.

Huh, I was ready to apologize for a broad definition, turns out I just chose the bad words and did not remember NickK_GGG was behind this. But I was right on the bit "Write about gutting a cat for sadism while they lull my faithful, furry companion to eternal rest". Better than expected.

That's sad. We all grieve in our ways I suppose. Nick_K has been giving the lore all sorts of brilliant moments ever since they unleashed him with Betrayal. He and I have disagreed in the past but it was over really petty shit (in hindsight -- at the time I was furious that he was trying to get in the way of my work; I was in the wrong, big-time) but he's a damn good dialogue writer. Which is interesting because I don't think it's what Chris initially hired him for. On the other hand, Rhys, one of their main coders from the start, is really good at coming up with meaningful riddles so I suppose it's the GGG tradition that employees reveal hidden talents throughout the course of the game's development.

I guess in a country where you cannot hire foreign workers unless there is absolutely no one with that specific talent among the locals, you have to use your human resources at their fullest. Good for them: an individual's madness can be strong enough to give material for 1-2 leagues if there is enough of it in them.

Rhys, you say. And good with riddles, too... I wonder why fishermen like that guy who discovered Fishing Rods are fixed drops while wearing Fairgraves (as in, they don't depend on IIQ) haven't made some big sensation over Act 6 Twilight Strand, then, since there do is a boss with his name and lorewise is an interesting location.

I'm guessing this kind of things affect people that love animals more than they love humans.. it's a personal choice that I wont go further into but I respect it.

Needless to say this game almost has everything.. hell a father sends his pawn to kill her daugther and love.

"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

Poe 0.2/10

Returning to poe in 3.27: ATROCIOUS game performance, 5/10 league and I apprently missed the loot back in the last league. The more things change the more they stay the same..

Oh, I thought it was well-known that Rhys of Abram was a nod to GGG senior game designer, Rhys 'Codewarrior' Abraham. The wiki says it outright. As for the placement, I dunno. He's always been a bit of a Goddess fan so that might have something to do with it but I wouldn't presume it. Probably just coincidence.
