I watched a couple of people on twitch playing and the game looks fun. I havent played WoW in 4-5 months and I'm pretty interested in GW2 for my MMO fix.

I always play healers though, havent seen much of the healing in GW2. Looks like every classes can heal themselves. Sucks for me lol but I'll still give it a try when it's out of beta.

There are no dedicated healers or tanks in the game...

Yep. This is actually kind of an issue though.
In all their 'let's remove traditional roles' rage they seem to have forgotten that a lot of people actually liked being a supportive kind of class.

The guardian is still pretty darn supportive, though. Lots of barriers and buffs. Then again, I have found my dps (yeah, I'm not afraid to use that word anymore) as a thief with a sword+pistol has been exactly the sort of support a bunch of people have needed.

I do NOT miss dedicated resurrecting classes, man. Randoms revive me (they get experience for it, after all), and often I'll revive myself -- if you're downed and can somehow get out of the monster's targeting, you can hold down 'call for help' and heal right back up to consciousness. One of the thief's downed abilities is to teleport randomly -- more than once I've done that sufficiently to heal back up.

Crazy, crazy game. Cannot begin to imagine how much thought went into making this level scaling work, and yet it's all so elegant.

My instincts (and experience with the company) were right: I can definitely play this alongside PoE. Guild Wars 2 does not lend itself well to alting, and PoE feeds my alt addiction nicely.

And you can forget alting on a beta weekend (with occasional connection problems, at that). I tried it, takes far too long to design a new body and get used to the new play style.

Regarding hand-holding: this still take a lot more thought than I expected. The 'tutorial' beats the crap out of you. Certain things you learn along the way and simply are not told by the game: for example, you need 10 silver by level 11 to buy the traits unlock book. Ten silver is a lot of money to me even at level 15 right now, considering most monster drops sell for 2-5 copper and not all monsters drop stuff. I didn't get that book until level 14. :(

Much more to say, and eventually I will. Maybe. Gw2 doesn't need any more champions.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
Yeah but it's not the support I mean.
Lots of people fancy being a healer, as do I on occasion.
It's kind of a shame, but at the same time the rest of the game looks sweet.

I myself welcome that they killed the holy trinity with Dps/Tank/Healer

cause now everyone is just helping out. I am having a blast !

ppl keep helping you up and using there party ability allot since they know it will help them-selfs out to get the job done faster.

It is great to see so many players just help you when the situation calls for it :)

Since the game rewards you for being social in various ways.

You can actually play support, just not healer.
Some classes have better support skills, like necro, guardian or ele, who can mitigate damage or remove conditions.
but they aren't useless in a team fight and can deal some serious damage aswell.

Funny, I', usually a healer too, in RPGMMO's. So my highest chars in GW2 is a ele using water and a guardian. Both doing some ok amount of healing, and support.

The game is starting to grow on me, but I'm not totally convinced about this "unique personal story" of all the classes. To me, all three classes have done almost the same type of quests in the beginning, just with another background story. I just hope the are gonna feel more different when I get higher up in level :)
