I played for 5min with crackling lance + intensify + light pen + inc crit strike + inspiration + spell echo. then I removed spell echo and played for 5min with just a 5 link. I felt significantly more powerful on that 5 link than I did when I was also running spell echo.

This is exactly what I was saying in my previous posts.

Something is up and I hope GGG gets to the bottom of it.

I think this may be because the second cast from spell echo doesn't increase the intensify stack:

So Spell Echo results in casts of the skill however you only gain 1 stack of Intensity.

I use crackling lance as starter too, spell echo works as duplicate of casted skill, and it will not duplicate intensity, you only get one stack out of 2 animation.

But isn't spell echo still stronger since it cast twice?

read the gem text carefully. It repeat, but at the same time affect cast time, as well as inherit 10% less damage as balance. Sum up all the gem text may still be good, but can have substitute . Awakened version is another story

I get what you mean, spell echo is good for early level when cast speed is slower, it will be inefficient for end game.

Supported Skills deal 0.5% increased Spell Damage
Supported Skills Repeat an additional time
Supported Skills have (51-70)% more Cast Speed
Supported Skills deal 10% less Damage
It still feels like there is something wrong tho.

It feels like way more than 10% dmg loss when u socket spell echo :/

This.

Doesn't matter if the second cast doesn't build intensity stack. An active link shouldn't make you feel like you are LOSING a link rather than gaining one.
i wonder why all people is worried about spell echo and not about intensify stack dont give the "+30 more dmg per intensify" bonus....

Well it appears from the testing shown in this thread that it does work and I certainly don't struggle with damage for crackling lance on my trickster. I have however noted that the PoB fork doesn't show damagenumbers for the 4th intensity stack on Crackling Lance itself even when you have the passive node for it but that is likely due to the new gem info in PoB (pinpoint support has the same problem for projectile spells). Mechanically the skill struggles a bit with clear since your best damagesupport does nothing for you unless you build intensity so you are essentially using a 5-link for clear that turns into a strong 6-link once you switch into "baby divine ire" mode. And for people claiming it doesnt work because of tooltip: Intensity stacks didnt update tooltip dps before 3.12 either. As for building stacks and spell echo, its just like with any mechanic that procs on skill use: its each "use" of the skill that matters, spell echo is still just 1 use, unleash is still just 1 use, greater spell echo is still just 1 use (from pledge of hands), all of them together is still just 1 use so you only get 1 intensity stack. However if you want to run archmage you only pay the cost once. Personally I don't use archmage simply because that would bottleneck my castingspeed and totally gimp the damage I get added from sigil of power and arcane cloak instead and I already go from 0 to 4 intensity in 1.3 seconds with spell echo.
Bump.

Again please take look if there are any bugs with spell echo linked to it, while also using intensify. The skill seems to loose way more than 10% of its dmg
