patch out and it still the same shit. Dont fuckign say thing that you not goign to do GGG and start treating your customer with respect

Respect begets respect, so how about you start first?

The only real criticism I can find currently with this is how all over the place the information is, but GGG has been that way since forever.

So in summary, the impact to curses was accidental and GGG are working on correcting this so the item will work as it previously did. GGG stated that they are still testing the solution to ensure it works properly and there are no other unintended consequences, because nobody wants to have it patched and still broken and for GGG it would be a waste of valuable QA resources that could be better utilised once than multiple times.

GGG did not state anywhere or at any time that the fix would be in the most recent patch. To the contrary, earlier today is when they stated that the intended fix still required testing, implying quite clearly that it wasn't ready yet.

Is he entitled to be annoyed that a preferred item was accidentally nerfed by GGG - yes of course he is. It's another symptom of poor resourcing and unrealistic deadlines that are endemic among the gaming industry, and specifically here at GGG.

Is he entitled to throw a tantrum because GGG didn't roll out the fix in this patch, despite them clearly saying it wouldn't be in this patch? No, I'm going to call him on that one. I'm pretty vociferous about giving GGG a hard time when they are dropping the ball, but there's no need for people to get upset for something they didn't do.

Why does my lack of fiscal contribution to GGG have any bearing on the correctness (or otherwise) of my statement? Having given money to GGG doesn't give anyone more or less of a right to discuss their game or interact with other users in the forums. I judge people more by the value of their written contribution to the forums than by how many shiny badges they paid for.

80% increased: if you have 100% curse effect reduction, you only get 20% curse reduction final because it is additive.

80% more: if you have 100% curse effect reduction, then 80% more of 0% is still 0% because more is multiplicative.

That's how I understand it anyway.

You're talking about after factoring in curse effect reductions, and that's irrelevant to the point I was making about how increased versus more is irrelevant to people who might want to use the armor without them.

The section of my post you excluded from your quote covered that.

Soul Mantle grants a 3rd or 4th totem, plus a free link for your main skill, and the potential to max out Self-Flagellation. This is a massive damage boost, and it makes sense that it would come at a steep price, either in survivability or in passives/gear slots. Atziri's Reflection is always there as a chase item for you to work towards. Until then, you could always, y'know, use a Warding flask.

More totems is, to a degree, a matter of diminishing returns. A third totem is only 50% more damage while a fourth totem is only 33% more damage over three. If you utilize Multiple Totems then a full spread of six totems only does what, 4.74 un-penalized totems' worth of damage?

The extra effective gem is good, as is the 50% increased totem life modifier, and I won't argue that. At the same time there are many other items out there that make 6 or 7 effective link chains without nearly that degree, if any, of a penalty.

Self-flagellation could have been handled with a simple, "Reductions to curse effectiveness reduce this bonus" line/affix/mod being added to the jewel itself.

If they change it to 80% more effect then soul mantle will work exactly as before and the curses on you would have exactly the same effect as before. Curses are all now lvl1.

Seems like self-inflected curses have higher penalties now than they did before. I mean before it was what, around an 80% elemental resistance reduction while now it's 99% when you get all the curses up?

Fun fact, you can hide your contributor status symbols. I do.

The whole point of soul mantle is to use it for self flagration...

In the modern "meta?" Sure, probably. In terms of original design/intent? Not in the slightest.

The way you phrase that makes it sounds like Self-Flagellation needs to be nerfed more than Soul Mantle does.

Well, I'm not really sure how to respond to that stream of semi-consciousness, I'm afraid I only grasped a small part.

I will however point out as Marikhen said previously, not everyone chooses to display badges or supporter tags. Just because you don't see any beside my name doesn't mean I haven't provided GGG with financial restitution. Additionally, some of my earliest purchases were purely for points rather than supporter packs so there's no tag or badge to go along with that.

Irrespective of whether I have spent money or not, or how much or how little, it still has no bearing on the quality of what I or others have to say.

It appears we've been dragged off topic lately so lets get back on track shall we?

So to sum up, there's wasn't a stealth nerf, there was an accidental stuff up. GGG are working to address this but we don't have a definite time frame, though they are in the testing stage so that would appear to imply "soon". They rolled out a patch today and there's still other things they are working on so hopefully not too much longer.

So before too long, players will be able to curse themselves again rather than each other :)
