How dead is Standard mode?
|
Standard is not dead. Finding things to buy is easy. Plenty of people buying things as well. It's not as much activity as the league. A good chunk of the trading activity this league has been people buying low level items, I assume fairly new players. You can buy anything you want easily so, there's long time players kicking around as well.

things worth buying are like 50x the price. buying in standard is such a huge pain in the ass if you're going to play it, you are basically playing SSF

Trading in standart is very good if u don't put insane price every item.Lots of new players who don't have tons of currency.Filty rich peeps are mostly league players and they barely use they currency in that short period before new league start. They just put all OP league items for sale insane price and don't even bother come to sell those when league start.

" I haven't tried buying there recently, but I still get messages from Standard players to buy my stuff even at this late stage (i.e. when the overall playerbase is at its lowest), since I'm one of those few who're actually willing to switch leagues to trade. So presumably there's still enough people there to have a working market. Expect to have to go through a lot of non-responders to get anything though, especially if it's a low value item (just cop the premium and skip the folks at the lowest prices). |

Well, I played out the entirety of Harvest in Standard. This was the first time ever I have skipped an entire league. I instead tested out builds and tweaked old builds in preparation for a "normal" league. Once I found a workaround for Bloom giving me constant migraines I was able to play a little.
As a result I did a fair bit of trading in Std. Those people saying it is dead are simply wrong. Obviously it's not as busy as a league, and I found it's easier to ignore listings older than a week. However, I was still able to sell what I wanted (in demand items like currency and pure's) and also to buy the gear items I wanted to test out. It sometimes takes a little longer to find someone online, but not as long as usual during Harvest as more people were in Standard than during a usual league. Hope this helps I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG. Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes. Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control! |

Trading in standard is good.
There's less people selling, but there's also less people buying. There's no extreme shortages on meta gear like there is in leagues and you can pretty much buy anything you want. At the end of last league i decided to pick up a legacy Aegis Aurora for a silly shenanigans build and had it sitting in my tab 5 minutes after doing the math on the build. You don't "start" in standard though, since anything worth anyone's time cost at least 1ex+ either as an individual item or bulk for cheaper items. If you just starting, start in the temp league then migrate over. |

I've come to realize over the years that when someone calls trading dead, it's because trading is no longer the frantic and volatile market of early league. I've played many leagues well into the "league is dead" stages and never had issues trading.
I would assume the same train of thought is applied to Standard. If the market doesn't resemble the unhealthy trading of early leagues, then it must be dead (and it is probably fine). Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Sep 6, 2020, 7:01:33 AM
