Tencent causes PoE to be at serious risk for it's US players, GGG what's your take on this?

heads up US players, vote tencent banner out, move to other countries, or uninstall poe when that day comes.
tencent owns ggg, owns poe, and even make poe better, who care about US banner?
I'll take the US govt. shaping the gaming industry seriously when I see them finally figure out that lootboxes are gambling - and that cutting out the cancer starts with their own home companies. If they can't even stand up to their own gaming lobby, I'm not worried about them having the balls to take on China. Incidentally, Tencent almost fully owns GGG, so it's already far too late for them to do anything anyway. It's not like Chris can take back the company, so what's the point wringing our hands over it. What will be, will be.

I can't imagine Tencent not being able to cope with this. Perhaps some stuff will need to be relocated or whatever. If Tencent does not have a contingency plan..well, it's basically not Tencent.

Try pulling rope vs that dragon? Har har har.
Did you try turning it off and on again?

It takes a group as bright as the modern progressives to take an issue they like (push back on human rights abusing, intellectual property stealing, CCP sanctioned spying China) and then do a complete 180 because a political figure they hate actually does something to forward that agenda (for the first time in 30 years).

Top stuff.

How has this thread not been blocked by a moderator yet? Political talk violates the forums ToS as an inflammatory topic. I’m reporting my own post here as such for the thread in general.

Progressives don't like China. They just also don't like its opponent. It's possible to dislike two things simultaneously.

That was not my criticism - they literally changed their minds on wanting the policy.

Same with 'the wall' btw if you look at polling going back 20 years.

Anyway, to get back on topic, Tencent owns just a 5% stake in Activision and that's still enough to get ActiBlizzard to remake their recent Call of Duty trailer to remove like 1.5 seconds of Tienanmen Square footage.

The great irony being that their new installment of the CoD franchise has a tagline in the trailer 'remember your history, else be doomed to repeat it' - as they censor history on behalf of the CCP.

They didn't just edit it out for the Chinese region either - they did it for the trailer of all regions.

It's all a bit reminiscent of 'console development for PoE will never affect PC' and 'RU/CH development will never affect US/EU/AUS realms'. Mmmhmmm. Until it does.
