Tencent causes PoE to be at serious risk for it's US players, GGG what's your take on this?
![]() In black and white for those of you not getting to grips. Location of servers do not matter, which division of Tencent does not matter. This is real. Ive been dreading this. Always struck me as bat shit crazy selling a majority stake to a company that can be made publicly-owned by the CCP at the snap of a finger. Lamenting Trump wont change reality. The CCP and the WHO were spreading disinformation about rona-chan before nations copped on and went into lockdown, WHO wouldn't even recognise Taiwan's (who had been warning about rona) existence. AU PM suggested that an independent investigation should be made into the spread of the human-malware and the CCP responded with sanctions and allegedly a slew of cyber-attacks on state institutions and private enterprises, prompting Australia to pledge an extra 1.35 billion Australian dollars to cyber defense over the next 10 years. Biggest bump AU has ever put in that budget. Meanwhile on mainland China skipping over the draconian fuckery in Hong Kong, the masses are fed lies by the CCP about the sources of the varus blaming it on America and get this, black people, specifically Africans by the narrative but all black people were told to jog on when trying to access goods or services up to and including hospitals. And this is just a minute tidbit compared to the volumised novels that can be said about the CCPs actions within its own borders. This has all been a long time coming, the CCP's trigger finger has been getting twitchy, just look at HK, and they are just waiting for an excuse to annex Taiwan. And alot of manufacturing is about to shift from the mainland. With the current state of China any and every chinese born international enterprise is defacto an appendage of the CCP and should be treated as such. This is a shot across the bow of the CCP, not Tencent, and it is a wake up call to those that have been suckling on Tencent's teet, the message is "Things will likely get worse before they get better". The gravy train of cheep fidget spinners and whatever other doodads we take for granted, built on the backs of effectively sweatshops, will derail. Ecommerce will be next. I give it a few years tops. Cus the CCP will not back down. recommended watching: the dudes from ADV china, pair of dudes that like riding motorcycles from US and South Africa that lived in china for 10+ years, each married chinese woman, each have a kid and both fled china bout 2 year ago when the CCP started ratcheting up the crazy. ADVChina ADV Podcasts laowhy86 serpentza ^ This dude worked in Tencent, says they had a whole division for stealing tech. What they cant steal (ie good game/application development) they buy. Edit: Things can still be rolled back later before this becomes activated, if the CCP in some way capitulates, but if and how remains to be seen. " Good, felt far to accelerated. Every thing else I said still stands, especially that this is a wake up call to those doing business with Tencent. Time to shop around for folks to buy them out. It is also in Tencents best interest to sell if it is going to think and act like a company, but if it thinks and acts like the CCP it may not be forthcoming. |

" Are you insane? The amount of money Tencent has is mindblowing, and it can totally do without ANY United States business if it had to. Now dont get me wrong, Tencent and its ties to the Chinese government (including their social programs) are horrific. However dont get blinded and stagger into that egocentric place that the US owns the world, it doesn't. Even in a worst case scenario Tencent could focus its interests in Europe, Japan, Korea, Canada, AUS/NZ, etc... and be TOTALLY FINE. " First, no. Stupid question. 2nd, yes, this is kind of my point so not sure why its framed like a rebuttal 3rd, i agree up until the hyperbole, stupid to assert on its own and even more so to try and paint people as having that mindset out of the clear blue sky. 4th, when did this become about how fine/not fine Tencent is going to be? But yes true. Last edited by DiggaTron#5185 on Aug 7, 2020, 9:59:28 AM

Really? Hyperbole? You literally said that Tencent should abandon ship, and every investor sell its stakes. " "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

" What i said and what you said are not at all alike. Why would Tencent hold onto a company based in the US or serving the US where the majority or at least a significant proportion of its customers reside. When the ability to serve or even operate in that region is going to be nulled (obviously hypothetical, but at the moment a real possibility). Effectively ending or at best significantly devaluing that company. Why not sell before its devalued? You need to cool your jets bucko. And stop shoving words in my mouth. |

" Ok please clarify what you said then, so I understand better: 1. Stakeholders in Tencent should shop around and find buyers. 2. Tencent should also sell (or divest?), because its in their "best interest?" "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
