#MeToo... Completely Overhaul the Social Feature AND Dismantle the Reddit Discord...
I haven't posted or commented in the forums for probably years at this rate, but this post caught my attention.
I'm a Male [Removed by Support] You said that "PressStartToPaws" got sexually harassed by us. That's already a major red flag when reading this comment. I surely didn't sexual harass her, or any other 3 billion or so women on this slowly dying world, no, a very small, minor portion of players did that, what you just said is incredibly disrespectful to the large amount of men here who did nothing wrong in their life towards women, don't paint us in a negative light just because some of us fucked up. I wholeheartedly understand the trials and tribulations that you and other transgenders go through on a possibly day to day basis, and I'm sorry that you go through that, but the world is an incredibly hostile, volatile place, especially the internet where a few key strokes of the keyboard could be the difference from very nice words, to words that break you, and there's nothing that can stop that person from typing, other than themselves and their moral compass, if such one does exist. Much like my dad says to me all the time i cry over sometime so minuscule in life that i really shouldn't be crying. "The world is full of people in way worse condition than you are, harden the fuck up and keep moving on or you'll go nowhere in life". Look, im sure you're a 30 year old cutie, but you even mentioning that tells me you're trying to make this more about you and not about your community and fellow transgenders. Look, it's currently 3:30am here in melbourne, so i'm gonna cut this short, if you would like to have a proper discussion over this topic, I cordially invite you to PM me and we can move onto discord from there, I will remain as respectful as I am here, I have been raised to treat humans the way that I myself would like to be treated. And remember, you unleashed a tidal wave of potentially negative comments the moment you said you're a transgender, and that you're angry about the current social system. It shouldn't be this way, but it is what it is. I hope you have a beautiful day/week (depending on how long it takes you to read this), look after yourself, and if you agree to PM me, i look forward to talking to you about this further. o/ Twitch: twitch.tv/slayertip Helping people with their builds, its somewhat a hobby, and a passion of mine, so don't be shy! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1715639 <--- Build help forums thread thingy. for the record...
I'm fine. This is the "Feedback and Suggestions" forum. I wrote this for GGG staff to see, read, and determine if it is an issue that they feel should be addressed officially. Any player opinion is of no real consequence to me. My only goal was to tell my story. I have never felt further from what I know and love

" There's a lot wrong with this post, so I'll stick to the highlights. 1 - Harassment IS a crime. I don't even know where your confusion on this point comes from. Harassment based on gender is, legally speaking, a hate crime. So let's be adults here and actually understand the severity of this conversation, rather then blow it off in this kind of immature manner. 2 - Your "what if" slippery slope argument is logically fallacious, because harassment is by definition targeted and personal. There's a HUGE difference between "I read a thing I didn't like in a public thread" and "I am receiving PMs attacking me," and it's beyond disingenuous to claim otherwise. 3 - The claim (of many in this thread) that the Internet is the Wild West with no social rules and everyone just needs to stay offline if they can't take a little heat, simply does not apply when GGG have made explicit statements to the contrary. Your own thoughts and opinions on this subject don't matter. Since GGG have repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to mute or ban offenders, OP certainly has a reasonable case here for wanting their policies, which are already being enforced, enforced more universally. Specifically when there is (apparently) a discord server claiming to be "official" with zero oversight from GGG. |

I would honestly stop paying that much attention to reddit or discord / any guild in an online game.
All of those things are user controlled, kind of like back in the days when some guy decided to be king and everyone else had to bow down or be removed from his land. What happened to you at WOW was less about you, but all about the guy who got something in return for promoting another guild member. It happens in lot´s of guilds, just like you have the trolls and haters at internet forums. You can not change that type of behaviour, it exists for centuries and always will. What you can do, however, is to not look for friends or family in such fragile places. The internet and it´s "social" is nothing but a fluke, it´s just an imaginary place where you don´t pull the strings as an individual, but more /less are dependant on those in charge of wherever you go. You can be the nicest person on earth or worst, it won´t make a difference. Even if GGG would give you some kind of "social" place, it won´t be any different, as you have noticed already at WOW or this forum here. Heads up and try to take things less personal. |

" That statement is somewhat questionable. While internet may not be a total "wild west", it is, after all, an anonymous platform to some extent which gives so called "offenders" way more freedom compared to saying something rude to another person physically; and wlile the anonymity of course is relative, IRL nobody will even try to physically pursue these shitposters/trolls based on a couple hateful comments in some godforsaken public chat. As for "hate crime", the definition and conditions differ from country to country, but in case of some internet blah-blah its a "hate speech" at best, which could get somebody a ban somewhere, at best. And of course, ggg does not control internet, so why not bring the matter in question directly to the right authorities - reddit, twitch, whatever. Anyway, if OP still feels like ggg must absolutely know, there's always that official support email. "Path of Exile's engine is currently modern, lean and fast." - Chris Wilson, September 19th, 2019

I would like to thank everyone who felt so impassioned by my post to actually take the time to make a comment. Whether or not I agree with you or your statements, whether or not you agree with my story, opinion, or feel this is an appropriate place to tell my story. I think ultimately front page status for over 24 hours, over 1000 clicks, 30 comments, and 1 DM from GGG staff has been more than enough for me to feel heard. more importantly though i think the overwhelming majority of you who participated with this post did an exceptional job proving my point. thank you.
The ball is no longer in my court, ill go back to playing alone with DnD on for a while longer whilst looking forward to the next Dev manifesto and the next fantastic league. and thanks Sarah, nice to meet you. I have never felt further from what I know and love

" As someone who cleared 1000 'clicks' and 30 'comments' with pretty much every thread I ever made on this forum, I can only laugh at the notion that you've been 'heard'. Because honey, they'd forget even me within a week if I hadn't put a few items in the game to torment them (and didn't occasionally make posts like this despite QUITTING on the regular -- you never truly quit an addiction; you just stop using until you die from something else). This board isn't social media, you know. It's not about clicks, likes, comments -- it's about contributing meaningful responses to the game (something I'll admit I've quit doing but I certainly respect those who still do)...and DMs from GGG community management staff? Uh, that's sort of their job. Sarah's a lovely person, she really is, but please don't mistake her response for some sort of massive reaction on GGG's behalf. There are other, proper battlegrounds than this for your fight, which I do consider a worthy one. Best of luck getting more clicks, likes, subscribes and all that. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Jul 2, 2020, 1:39:12 AM
