What is your first build for harvest?

VD spellslinger necro if they keep bone offering as it is as you will have immortal build once you get trigger socketed gems craft with the upcoming Glancing Blows keystone.

Chaos slinger or caustic arrow trickster

Arc / BL miner
Topkek
I haven't tried blade blast yet.
Stun Ground Slam Berzerker, not worried about patch notes, my fav skills getting a buff and the league is looking fun.
Mark_GGG 2012
If you put on your full plate mail, and I throw hundreds of toothpicks at you, you'll basically not feel it.

If someone catapults a whole tree at you, don't expect the Armour to prevent as much of the damage.
Electric Skeletons/Spectre Necro

Super low curency, ez mode leveling.
Not the fastest, but oh so smooth.
Bosses just melt.

P.S.
I may choose the zombie/spectre variant mentioned at the end of my guide, as its less clicking, and I am having some repetitive motion injure issues.

the games progression through maps forces you to weed out bad builds. bad builds are ones that cannot progress. if they can, that is what maps force you to do, really min/max your build.

you can make any skill work until end game and "beat" path of exile, but doing funky stupid shit all together as one will of course never do it because it isn't a real build

Really dude, you are better than this elitist crap. My refusal to grind as much as a streamer does not make a build bad. Crappy code does not make a build bad. Finding creative interactions used to be the whole point of the game.

Making maps a convoluted mess does not test a build at all, it just makes an arbitrary hoop to jump through. You chose to jump through it, great, your choice. But let's be clear, spending time grinding and min maxing is a choice for players. If it is necessary, then it is not a good build, it is just a build that has had raw stats thrown at it.

I think what the poster is implying is the a streamer can work with a terrible build because they are pro players. A new or below average player would be well served to follow a meta build guide step by step. Like it or not the game is balanced to be hard enough not to be trivial to the streamers. Grinding Gear Games is the publisher and they chose that name for a reason. If you think you can do well off the meta and not spend time perfecting your gear you have the wrong game.

Regarding my upcoming build I always wait for the patch notes to decide. I have not done a slam build or a self cast build in a while and I like to mix things up. Although in a crafting league I might go straight to my push build instead of using a starter.

need patch notes.

I'm just a console peasant so I get to wait 5 days after PC launches so i can ninja builds and see what seems to be strong and go with one of those I guess.
After the Manifesto release.... so many dead dreams in this topic :(

I was toying around with a couple of ideas and they all just got dumped on by GGG. The worst issue for me is that the uber-rich will be able to overcome many of these problems by purchasing elite gear, while once again the poor get screwed over. Yay - fun!

Indeed, this game was built on grinding. They have become very popular because of it. What is funny, it used to be much harder.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
Ground slam, sunder, earthquake then brand;)
If you can't control it, STOP.
