Some trivials about the map and map mods (randomly rolled):
  • Decided to go with an open-layout map which is not as ideal as narrow-passage maps, e.g. Thicket, for Toxic Rain. The reason is that I ran the same map for Scourge Arrow, so I ran the same again.
  • Enfeeble: make the whole encounter a bit more tedious as I needed to micro-manage the curse immunity flask.
  • No life leech: not ideal overall, but life gain on hit still works.
  • Monsters' action speed cannot be modified below base value: this is bad for Toxic Rain since we rely on TR's ability to apply 60% less movespeed to kill monsters before they can reach us.


Disruption at the end of the record:
I got some crashes and spike lags near the end of the encounter. Therefore, I decided to skip the last 20% part of it due to the aforementioned disruption (and also due to tiredness after a long day). Already down Kosis and Omni in the recorded part.

For the poison tr

Hi, would you recommend taking the less duration nodes near scion starting point and adding in less duration support instead of one of the supports? Or would that be decreasing damage by too much? I was looking at the POB and it would take skill duration from 1.14 to .36 with a 20/20 less duration support

From what I saw in PoB, grabbing 3 reduced duration nodes (Window of Opportunity wheel) grants 25% reduced duration. This translates to 0.1sec reduction of pod's lifetime (from 0.39s to 0.29s with a Less Duration support gem instead of Vile Toxin), all at the cost with 3 points. I personally think it's not worth it. I hope the amount of reduced duration granted by Window Opportunity should be adjusted such that the total reduction magnitude would be made equal to those granted by Exceptional Performance (45% increased skill effect duration).

Update: Skitterbot from a bottle (for Poison Toxic Rain / Scourge Arrow)

New flask: Vessel of Vinktar, replacing Coralito's Signature

+ Grants 30% less lightning damage taken (30% = 20% with 50% increased flask effect): a valuable addition to our defense that bases on multiple less damage taken.
+ Grants 15% increased damage taken (15% = 10% with 50% increased flask effect), i.e. Skitterbot from a bottle. We are immune to ailments, so the side effect of Vinktar doesn't bother us at all.
+ Replaces Coralito's Signature by Vessel of Vinktar. We need to cap our chance to poison by grabbing the poison node in the Toxic Strikes and Fatal Toxins wheels.
+ Suggested Flask setup for clear:

+ Or if you want a total defense for your ride to level 100:
Withering Step, replacing Urgen Order Support, for even faster mapping if you'd like.

Poison Toxic Rain scales poison from arrow hits and explosions. We can rely on our high-damage arrow hits and explosions from Poison TR to clear maps pretty fast. This is very different from tradition pod's chaos DoT which usually has long pod's lifetime. Below is the list of the damage outputs from our Poison TR and how they help in mapping:

1) Arrow hits: Kill most of the mobs.
2) Explosion hits: Kill the remnants.
3) Poison DoT: Kill tough rare mobs.
4) Poison spread (Nature's Reprisal, a.k.a. poison proliferation) for mobs in a pack, e.g. standing close to each other: Extra damage (usually any mobs in a non-100% delirious maps die by (1) and/or (2)).
5) Damage from Blast Rain-MiA: anything else we miss.
6) Chaos DoT from pods: Short pod's lifetime duration doesn't allow pods to do a huge chunk of chaos DoT damage, but it's still a valid source of extra damage.

i tried poison SA as league-starter and it was really great,
but how about poison toxic rain as league-starter?
chaos dot version is really good but i never tried poison one so wanna ask your opinion thanks!

Hi there,

I league-started my poison SA with Voltaxic Rift bow (cost 1c). Before getting Voltaxic (level 70), I level up with poison Barrage for single target and Rain of Arrow for clear (Caustic Arrow also works early-mid game). The reason not going with TR or SA at the beginning because we need to satisfy quite a few prerequisites such as chance to poison, APS, flat chaos damage, etc. for our poison damage to feel good. As a result, it is smoother to start with a generic attack skill such as Barrage and gradually add poison flavor to it.

Frankly, I've finalized the poison TR variant only very recently in this league, and thus not be able to league-start with it. Poison is based on attack damage. It's gear dependent. Meanwhile the DOT portion of TR scales well from gem levels + tree, so it's guaranteed. In fact I have been practicing ranger league starts and found that DOT TR is one of the best ways to level a ranger. I don't see an advantage of league starting poison at all. Why be gear dependent when you could just not be gear dependent instead?
I was looking for a poison scourge arrow (or poison toxic rain) league starter for 3.12, how do I find it in your thread? There seems to be like 15 PoBs that are different from each other, and the levelling one (1-69 lvls) has only passive skil points without any skils nor items. Is there a pob that has both levelling section (from start to endgame) and progressive itemisation and skills?
