question on curse limit and which curses gets applied if more are active

Is there any particular reason why you want to invest in 3 curses when you can ever only apply 2?

i don't want to invest in 3 curses, i just don't want the flask curse to override one of the other 2.
the flask i need for the increased dot damage, not for the curse. |
