This. I tried to play only hardcore when I started PoE, up to this season where I finally threw in the towel on HC and went to SC, and I did so exactly for the reasons you state above.

You go for long stretches in PoE where your HP/ES never even budges and then bam!, you're dead. Or a lag spike happens on a screen full of bad guys, or when you are flasking and the hiccup is just enough to rip you, or any of a million ways that PoE shifts between the only two modes it has - 1) "you are invincible" and 2) "Bang, you're dead, and no, there is nothing you could have done about it."

I am deathless so far on his SC playthorugh, but I expect that at any moment in my invincible screen clearings and boss fights that I'll randomly just get ripped and see the resurrect message. That's PoE. Easy mode with random moments of impossible.

I give Ziz and the PoE streamer crowd props, because they rip, rip and rip some more and mostly take it with good humor because...well...PoE is rippy and whatever. I just gave up because I wanted to see more of the game than the rippy moments were allowing, so put in me in that 99% of the playerbase who just accepted PoE's binary nature of god-mode||rip.

On point... Im playing a bit of sc cause some friends started to play and Im helping them out on sc. But my focus still hc. Even though Im almost giving up cause it seems the game went to a road and it isnt going back to what it was.

The problems that cause these one shots/bursts or 2 modes like u discribed are so deeply on poe that I think its impossible to fix it. Itemization, power, speed, recovery of players made the devs desperate and they dont have a clue on how to kill players without cheap mechanics. The screen clutter is another problem that make these one shots worst cause u cant even see whats happening.

A lot of games are going on the "classic" model by re lauching the game with classic 1.0 settings and modern qol. I rly hope poe release something like this. Pick the improvments clean up the code and re release the game like what was at the beggining
