is GGG limiting build diversity with monster buffs?

A little bit. My janky builds are not cutting it and SSF isnt helping get the gear I need to take out these bosses quickly. I shoulda went meta but in this league it really highlights that fact more than others. Mainly because if you don't take out metamorph bosses quickly they will wreck you and means in the neighborhood of 500K+ sustained DPS and most meta are over 1m.

All that said I like it better this way. Game before was just boring to play and now it feels more visceral. You better be paying attention and have high incentive to better yourself and gear. Whereas before you could literally beat game (every boss) with shit like tabulas and even 4L sometimes. You could pick any skill and make it work and thats what made it so boring for higher end skills.

How are we defining build diversity?

Because people could argue that utilizing more supporting skills actually equals build diversity.

For example, instead of using "just cleave" now people might be using cleave/totem and a self-cast curse or some other wanky stuff to reach the damage threshholds.

Which could be considered an increase in diverse tactics to beat the game.

Like physical cyclone, ele cyclone, impale cyclone, cwc cyclone, summoner cyclone, errr totem cyclone? lol. I love cyclone but not when its the only skill "melee" that semiwhat works... I tried to make other builds using groundslam, teutonic, lacerate, dual strike, sunder nah its all inferior in damage/survibiality. No matter the tree or equips if u just switch X skill for cyclone u will do more damage and live more (keep moving...)
I think that GGG was fairly close in making this expansion great. Frankly besides the bugs and bad performance (for some) they just failed to nerf the "indirect damage builds" enough to level the playing field.

Tone down pets and mines/traps/totems a bit and the playing field is fairly balanced IMO. The stats on POE ninja show this trend exactly.
"They buffed monsters hp so you no longer kill monsters in split second on literally every single build that exist! This makes them unplayable! Muh build diversity!"
People seem to be out of touch with reality. Please go to poe.ninja. Top of used skill is 12 percent. Which is DRASTICALLY more spread out then before. Even if we put all summoners builds together, which makes no sense since we not counting melee or bow skills together... But even if we do it is still 31 percent compared to 40+ cyclone, winter orb storm brand leagues.

Build balance is the best game had in a while or possibly ever.
Look at the build meta. Half the players use miners or summoners to cheese the content.

The power balance between various builds power levels and their relative gear cost is whack.

Plenty of builds on poe.ninja. Necromancer and Saboteur are broken but other classes can be broken too with proper investment/skill

That's precisely the problem, though. The majority of the player base doesn't have the time requisite to reach "proper investment." GGG has further pushed the majority of the player base into being meta slaves if they want the end game to be approachable. I've always thought GGG gets waaaaaay too much credit for being forward thinking. They've already created a game that has a lot of inequity and this patch, they've made much much worse.

I don't really see why people think every build they ever throw together should be able to insta-KO the final bosses and never die ever on sextant awakened corrupted 8+ modded influenced of some kind maps. Practically any build can make it past Act 10. Practically any build can do white maps. Most builds can probably do yellows. It's only the increasingly expensive, well planned ones that can do red/endgame crap, and you can probably find a build of any skill that someone has successfully completed end game crap with, it'll just be expensive. If that isn't build diversity I have no idea what is I guess

it's more sounding like people want to beat uber elder on a 50c-2ex weapon again and 20c of gear again, and GGG is just saying "no"

Who is saying that? You're literally just making a 10 meter tall straw man argument. This is such a weak rebuttal to a very legitimate question.

Well the GGG solution is to nerf those builds until every build is as scaling unfriendly as a physical wander at league start then true balance is achieved.
