Planning a new PC for a post Windows 7 world.
Hmmm... I misread the SSD specs (should have looked it up on NewEgg first).
Corsair Force MP600 M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express Gen 4.0 x4 NVMe I find it strange that the Consair MP600 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD has such a low write speed: Max Sequential Read: Up to 4950 MBps Max Sequential Write: Up to 2500 MBps Only 2500 MBps on writes? I get better than that on my 1 TB Teamgroup MP34 which is PCIe 3.0 speed: ![]() ![]() You should be able to do better than that for gen4 NVMe. Looking at NewEgg gen4 SSD I see Sabrent has one that claims 5000 MB seq. reads and 4400 MB seq. writes for just under $100 USD. Oh good Tweaktown has a review: Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD Review Edit: Tweaktown also tested the Corsair MP600: Corsair Force Series MP600 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD Review Corsair MP600 500GB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD Review Looking back at NewEgg on both 500 and 1 TB Corsair MP600 SSDs it does show the 1 TB at 4250 MBps and the 500 GB at only 2500 MBps. That's a big performance ouch and you should check out the Sabrent or other gen4 SSDs more thoroughly before buying. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. Why don't you just try windows 10? You can still get it free.
I upgraded when my windows 10 business laptop was performing better than my high end water cooled desktop with windows 7 on it. Something is seriously wrong with windows 7 and this game last few leagues. My hardware is even older than yours in some respects like a 2600K@ 5.2 Ghz but my video is newer (980 GTX) anyway runs flawless frames now everything maxed and uses half the memory as window 7 did. With windows 7 there is some kinda memory leak that slowed system to a halt after just a few minutes of mapping and shot memory over 12GB used. I have yet to use over 6GB with win 10. Git R Dun! I found a guy who puts together gaming PC's as a hobby using some used/refurbished parts and some new. I spent $400 US last year on a great machine and I couldn't be happier. IMO this is a great time to do so because graphic card and processors have not changed that much in the past 2-4 years except getting more expensive. You can get a machine like mine and be 100% happy with POE. I5 processor, RX470 and SSD is what I got. And 8 GB ram is enough just make sure it is modern.
And regarding Windows 10 vs 7. Get 10, spend time tweeking it after watching instructional videos. Come on people - that is the price to pay for PC gaming. Last edited by MrWonderful99#4612 on Dec 28, 2019, 11:44:50 AM

" What videos are you referring to? I'd like to tweak some of the bothersome notifications like every time I launch a game windows asks press a key to take screen shot. Thanks. My business laptop which has windows 10 was installed by a pro at work with none of that crap or contera or other stuff...wish my retail win 10 install was more like it Git R Dun! " The problem I have is that my PC is perfectly fine for everything else. I can live without mapping in PoE for a few weeks, but not my PC. It is pretty ridiculous that GGG still recommends Win 7 (direct from support a few hours ago), but they have refused to roll back patch 3.9.0e to investigate what has caused the memory leak before releasing it again. |
