[0.10.3] Elemental Staff Shadow

Elemental Beat stick

Key notes: 200% HP, metric loads of crit, able to run all 3 elemental auras. Going to need granite flasks. Oh and the shadow looks like a huge baller wielding a staff.

That being said I have this slotted to use the following skills.

Glacial hammer or Elemental hit for single target dps.
Sweep and leap slam for AoE and positioning.
wrath, hatred and anger for obvious reasons. (could be worthwhile to drop anger in place of using Grace for more static armor due to IR, also burn damage dots shouldn't be needed to kill anything and you will get plenty of fire damage from added fire supports)
enduring cry for safety reasons.

Play style rundown, first of all you are going to be quite fast esp. if you have move speed boots. Enduring cry then curse elemental weakness, leap slam in, followed by elemental proliferation Sweep... the first one should apply 3 shock stacks to all targets in range.

This is only like the 3rd revision I have done of this build, I would like to grab amplify from the templar area, and possibly berserking from duelist but as of right now I am unsure of what to drop.

For flavor you could fit cyclone in here as well.

Im interested in shadow staff build but have no idea where to begin. Bumping thread to keep this going. Hopefully we can get some more informtion from OP and others with a fair bit of knowledge on this type of build :)

Was also wondering if ground slam could work with this?

Groundslam is a safer alternative to sweep imo, I just dont like the skill personally.

Note: It has been said that if you are going to use a staff you might as well be using a mace, which I suppose could be true, its just that the shadow looks like a total bad ass holding a stick.

The way the shadow looks when he uses GS is exactly what sold mw to the idea of a shadow staff build. I just read a thread somewhere telling me to just search for a 2h build and alter It accordingly. Is that a viable option? In still fairly new and still trying to beat the learning curve.

On a side note. How well does GS and leap slam compliment each other?

I never play without a positioning tool on my bar and that is exactly what leapslam is, helps you get out of bad surrounds and other nasty situations.

So if you have STR in your build and cannot use lightning warp or whirling blades it becomes a go to tool.

I would say the work fairly well esp. at higher attack speed.

Though those people might be right about shadow and 2h being less than compared to other classes, this build for example is kind of ridiculous though a templar and not a shadow, note that this link also works from a mara and duelist perspective.

on that note, i had a quick question. if i take ground slam as my main skill should i take all those lightning dmg nodes that you took? also wondering the same thing about arcing blows. thanks again. i really apprecriate the help.

I assume you are referring to the elemental staff shadow and not the physical damage templar you linked earlier, since the templar doesn't have any lightning passives.

I would still use it as is, and just make sure to support GS with weapon ele damage, possibly elemental proliferation also to spread shocks stacks, a few more points of note, lightning is almost always a good thing to have, because of the shock debuff, which increases damage dealt to the mobs.

i got back from work and logged into my shadow but, hes now holding the staff like any other character. whats going on?
