Does anyone else strictly do their own builds?

Sure. It's too much effort to pick out of a 2 hour stream (i'm not patient) the 5 minutes of useful information, and then a lot of people who do copy-paste builds miss a lot of the nuance of it and just fail.

It's important to learn the higher level principles that make a build good, than to simply copy one.

I do my thing, sometimes i might course correct if there's a strategy i hadnt considered and see if that can be incorporated into my build but otherwise no.

I'm very happy with my build, it's not meta which means i can buy the gear i need and know it's not going to get nerfed any time soon.

Same here. The whole fun of the game imo is designing a build and seeing how far you can get with it. I don't even see the point of playing if you are just going to copy someone elses work.

This. I can see copying a build if you heard or saw of something that looks fun, or even copying a farming build if you were going to play competitive PvP...but other than that, I don't understand the people that are only going to make 1 character and their goal is just to farm even faster than they were farming before. Even playing a character type they don't enjoy because it's "meta".

Thank god endgame for me is creating my own builds on hardcore, and seeing how far I can get them/push them. If I die, it just means I get to try something new out or try to perfect the build I was playing that died, if I enjoyed it.

I read other people's builds ... but when it comes to the final execution, I tend to do my own thing.

I also like to play SSF, so sometimes *gasp* I actually take some of the Elemental Resistance nodes as I try to muddle along with my sub-par gear drops.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Glad to hear I am not alone, and yes I also sometimes take elemental resistance nodes though didnt really know it was a thing not to.

As someone mentioned I also like switching on the fly sometimnes and my last character before a suspect one shot kill, started as freezing pulse, moved to frost blades when I found a couple good claws and then moved to burning arrow after I found a good bow. The build supported each well, and I was just starting to take FA specific nodes when I got one shot. Kinda sucked ( i was in Act 6) and didnt think the Metamorph would be that big of a deal (though I used 5 yellow pieces)

Still having fun. Finding that grinding Metamorphs in a few areas helps with progression, but I am far from an expert.
