Who is Charan and why he left?

+1. Both of these threads are stupid. The first should've died out within a page or two, and then likely this one would never have been made. So how about we switch the topic from Charan himself to the fact that both of the threads about him are still up? Yet another example of the mods' hypocrisy.

Then again, maybe not. From what I can tell, their real policy is to get rid of anything that threatens to become a shit storm. Religion and politics fit that bill. But so do scam reports, because if allowed at all they'll tend to proliferate and eventually also feature false accusations. So they go too. But the Charan thread is fine, because so far it's proved self-limiting - people are just using it to discuss this one player rather than it spiraling out of control (so far...). So it stays up, morality and policy consistency be damned. Basically, they're not really out to protect anyone but the company itself.

The irony is real.

You can recognize them because instead of discussing the points they use short sarcastic insults as an attempted rebuttal.

That sucks, i hate when posts are being deleted, where's the democracy and freedom of speech?

I don't support GGG deleting Charan's post, but this is not a freedom of speech issue.

GGG own's this forum and the server it's on. They could ban vowels and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Companies own most of the world and Internet. Your belief structure dictates that no freedom of speech exists outside of face to face encounters. I'm not trying to argue that you are legally wrong, but I am saying that you are morally wrong. We shouldn't simply accept this. Our ancestors fought and died for freedom of speech and now a technological revolution is making their sacrifices obsolete?

Even then in face to face encounters, you don't have freedom of speech these days half the time because you apparently embody the company you're working for 24 hours a day so if you say anything that is offensive to your employer off work hours and outside of the work place you can be fired these days.

We are human beings. We have a voice. Power structures should not be used to silence dissenting opinions and beliefs. Period. You're either supporting freedom of speech or you're on the side of totalitarians.

People should be fighting back against this, not meekly acknowledging that it's the reality we live in and accepting it like a coward.

hahahahaha
Charan is most likely the sole reason PoE existed past Closed Beta. His Money made this game happen in the early stages. He wasnt happy with GGGs direction (even though the game is doing better then ever). Then he got a timed Forum Ban for reasons unknown to us. During that Probation his entire Post History was deleted. Once again we dont know why.

To be honest.. i wont miss him. His constant negativity and arrogant behavior made visiting the Forum unfun. I however do hope he is well and will do well in the Future :)

Summary of Charan:

Donates 10s of thousands of dollars to GGG
Creates anime waifu swords for the game that have strange writing; it's not a great leap to imagine that this is one of his perversions
Apparently wrote a book, I read the first page on Amazon, it's horrible
Constantly complains and meticulously details how his swords should be introduced into the game
Doesn't like how they were introduced, publicly calls GGG employees idiots, to which GGG responds that he should stop being an asshole
Constantly writes useless and pedantic posts on the forums
Has rage quit the forums multiple times, repeatedly insulting normal people who just like to play the game
Gained a following of people that like him because there is a prestige in having the forum badge that he had for donating so much to the game, additionally he has received so much hate that many view him as a sort of underdog to root for
Despite all of these things, has never gotten past yellow maps or a character to level 80

This is accurate and should be added to the POE wiki.

One other addition though,

"Donated to the game thinking he could make it HIS game, and threw fits when it didn't come to fruition".

I think that is a fair assessment and should be added. Also for the sake of intellectual honesty, it was his fathers money. Could be semantics but I always thought it was a bit ironic for how he paraded himself.

Rich papa life i guess
Sucks i'll never understand how it is being in a rich family.
Was born in post soviet country after early 90's , poor family, but we were happy together
Ever seen those youtube clips, where the (clearly about 5 years too old) kids in a pushchair have a raging tantrum because mommy won't buy them something?

You're welcome.

So he left because of me? Wow, I did not mean to piss him off so badly...

Im sorry but i think you just described elitism.

"You spend a lot of money to influence an a product (or project or community or whatever) in a early state of it. Club-supporters are few and you have a great opportunity to been seen and you can influence on things. This is state 1 right?

State 2:
Club-base is growing which eventually means that opinions and views that differ from yours are growing. You feel selfrighteous and falsely ownership of a product or club, you feel that other are inferior and not as much competent that you."

Im sorry, thats elitism in its purest form. In gaming, elitism ALWAYS breeds in EVE & POE platforms.

Personally, i think everything is better without elitist-despots.

Stupid?
I had a question then after we started discussing something else
Why people are so affected on if the topic is closed or not? You get less money for each topic created? You care for the forum to be clean? Dont read these topics and thats it?
I'd guess threads like this turning into a primitive SC vs HC shitfest is one reason he left.
