It is the same not sure why they thought calling it 2 was a good idea lol
Instead of going act 1 - 10 you now go act 1 - 10 then new acts

You have the option to play new acts from the start, they're not placed after the end of Act 10.

Exactly the same?

Did you watch it from a flip phone? Everything from the mapping, textures, models, animations are all upgraded. It looks vastly more crisp and advanced that current POE.

You realize you still have to play this on a computer without it blowing up yeah?

Diablo 4 is just a modded D3 engine and they want you to pay $60 for it.

PoE 2 is changing the whole skeleton and visuals of POE, so yeah just because it's not in a separate box doesn't mean it's not worthy of saying "2".

I mean ....Megaman 6 looks just like megaman 1 ....but it's canonically sequentially ahead.

Game of Thrones had multiple seasons, spanning multiple years, but they all looked the same.

I have sequels every year ...but I'm basically the same each time.
some people just love to complain

so it will be a diferent story.

but it will end in the same endgame? so a poe 1 char and a poe 2 char can play together.

but what is with the balance? with all 6-links, and other changes, arent the poe 2 going to be more powerful?
or are changes like that also coming to poe 1? so that only the storylines seperate them, and the game mechanics are identical?!?!

Ok, if you don't get it then it's time for you to uninstall PoE right now and never play it again.

GGG couldn't keep going forward with their > decade old game engine. You have to know the GGG founders history (which you obviously don't have a clue about) to understand why GGG is going to a whole new PoE 2.

Very brief GGG PoE development history:

Back in 2005 when the 3 got together to produce "the arpg we would most want to play" they were dirt poor and couldn't afford the quarter million or more to licence a commercial game engine. Ok, so they rolled their own from scratch. Tons of learning took place but in the end they got to a point where they released PoE for us to play (CB, OB, and finally PoE 1.0). Since server/client Internet communication timing is not trivial we all had to put up with desync for years until Jonathan and his coder team figured out a fix GGG calls Lockstep or more precisely Deterministic Lockstep.

But coding a whole game engine in C++ isn't trivial either and that's why the commercial game engines in the early 2000s cost so much to get a licence to use in any game. So GGG, without the years of knowledge in game engine design and millions that go into making a top performing commercial game engine, coded their own server/client game engine for PoE but didn't know anything about performance optimization, they were starting from nothing and just needed something/anything to work with while coding the PoE game (just to get up and running) and worried about performance/optimizations (aka quality of play) later.

So in the end most/all play with poor QoP because of this, GGG has known this for years (has heard our tons of feedback QoP complaints), and knew that going forward with PoE 4.0 that they had to improve quality of play in a major way. Re-coding current PoE wasn't a viable option (3.5 years minimal for 0 new game features is not feasible or desirable) so GGG decided that with a new engine (did anyone hear GGG say what game engine PoE 2 uses?) they could get to a much better place for version 4.0 and beyond, we will/should get a much better QoP (hopefully as good as D3 but it's way too early to know), and 6 player party play should finally be a reality. (Maybe I can finally play PoE 2 with my 2 BFFLs. We tried to party play in 2013 but bad QoP ended that in < 2 months of frustration).

"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It's still the same engine, it's not different game. They're just adding a new storyline in, which is PoE 2. The overhaul and major changes are still just 4.0.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.
