i don´t get it (poe 2)
" Fat shark did the same thing with Vermintide 1/2. Same base classes in #2 but added professions (different passives and ultimate skills) with new missions to play through. |

The 2 is obviously a Marketing strategy to show new people there is a "new" improved game with better aestethic and more new stuff to play.
People who never touch PoE would rather try a "PoE2" than the same "PoE 4.52.35" which remind them the old beta footage they only have in mind XD. Could be confusing for "old" player but its just the same revamp and improved game with 2 Levelling Campaigns choices before sharing the same new endgame. They did it great, not trying to suck ppl money by making a new game and f... people support transaction to force them to cash again in the new "game" all over again, and divide them. I mean adding more Act would have be... too long, revamping acts would have cause" nooo i'm an old poe player i want my old acts back.. i'm leaving....", there, we got the choice, and anyway all the improvement made to ennemies and graphics/animations would carry over maps and the rest anyway so^^, can't be more happier. A whole new campaign, like double the casses, new art style, engine, and ppl still do not want it be called 2 ? "Marketing Strategy" TF is wrong with gamers these days.
This is obviously a successor *done right*. Hello ? |

Well, everything we see here regarding Path of Exile 2 so far, is nothing but, and only Work in Progress. Bunch of things may and will be changing/changed until release.
Nothing have been set in stone, just yet. |

" First thing I thought of when the PoE 2 trailer played was how much is looked like D3 in quality (and that's a good thing). But as Jonathan said there will be (many, many) headaches working out all the details on the conversion of all our PoE builds over to the PoE 2 format. I'm sure they will piss off more than a few players on balance (hey GGG, you wrecked all my builds). You can count on that happening. But just think of it as a new game in terms of build crafting (which it will be) and not get mentally stuck in the current PoE build mindset and we'll be ok (at least most of us should). Since the whole skill + supports mechanic with linked gear sockets is being redesigned (that's what we get when the game company is in the "upside down" part of the world) it's understandable that GGG is choosing to call it PoE 2 and be viewed as a separate 2nd new PoE instead of PoE 4.0. This way GGG can dramatically slow down the pace of play (hate the shooter/racer speed of PoE 3.8) as many veteran players have been asking for and get back to its original roots as a strategy arpg game. Hopefully (no one at ExileCon has said) we can also get a 21st century modern game engine that doesn't lag/freeze/stutter/dc to hell and beyond all/most of the time (I will not be moving just to get better PoE Internet performance... Yes, I know ZiggyD did just that as a pro PoE streamer/player). "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. " Ho c'mon.. did you only read the first line ? I Totally agree with their decisions, calling it 2, making it 2 campaigns but linked. I'm just explaining the "PoE2"naming after the famous "PoE 4.0" expected. Usually in games when you see a "2" "3".., it took place on Games released a few years before, with another story, just on the same "universe". Because recently with what Blizzard did on OW2 and some other games, its not really the same. As for PoE2, its not a "New game" or even" a new engine", it is better, it is an "Iteration", improvement with additionnals contents as ever with GGG, to still improve their baby. But also the purpose of such new "campaigns" is usually to attract new people, the core audience will follow, but the new audience need to know there is a "new" product. If they had tagged it "PoE 4.0", for anyone outside of this forum/community, it only looks like "Ho ok, its just an update, like mmo's, a new class or something else, but i already saw this game 6years Ago, it was ugly why would have care about their "patchnote 4.0 ?". So the "PoE 2" is obviously a marketing strategy for the "name". A good and understandable one. (i'm on a mobile game company, yeah mobile Xd but its something strategic of course, because its not a "new game" as usually a "2" refers as, but a great iteration on the existing one.) Why people are so agressive sometimes :S Last edited by Bakudan#2344 on Nov 16, 2019, 11:50:33 AM

" What? They revamped literally all character models, gave us an entirely new set of enemies with modernized models, and also the sequel is literally a sequel set 20 years in the future of the first campaign. Only an idiot wouldn't call it a sequel. The fact that they're linking the two endgames and ascendancy sets into one shared package is just icing on the cake. |

"Turns out the explanation is actually pretty simple. It was just confirmed on stream that the exiles that defeated Uber Elder are not our characters, but rather a set of characters that had been mapping and fighting Uber Elder while our characters were still in acts. |

People don't call it a sequel because PoE unlike other ARPGs has constantly been improved.
But if you would put PoE 2015 next to PoE 2 the improvements would be more obvious. Concider the massive changes its getting I think its fair. 7 new acts and 19 new subclasses etc is more then any expansion in a ARPG. They wanna let people know that PoE will offer a new leveling experiance that is far more polished then the old game. Think its cool they keep them integrated. |
