Twitch Drops

You guys need to stop being entitled whiners. You should be watching the stream for information on 3.9 and 4.0 (which has been AMAZING so far). Drops are secondary. If you are watching it just for an MTX drop then you are watching for all the wrong reasons.

We came for the Con, we LOGGED IN and organized to be able to STAY LONGER for the drops. Is that too hard to understand or is it another case of rich kids don't care about poor people wanting free stuff ? When someone advertise for free stuff, that brings more people for longer, free stuff does not happen, deal with angry people that adjusted things around to get free stuff and got nothing.

How do you think they managed to get number one on Twitch without some bait ?

You would think different as an adult, who stayed home to watch all night. For many of us, time is precious and we can´t perform these stunts every day like kids do.

We would have watched the stream during day as a replay, if it wasn´t for the promised drops, that did not happen.

If you were that much in need of those drops instead of the good Exilcon show and Informations, you could just have let your computer "On" with the stream and setup the computer to shutdown at then end, 9hours after, nothing forced you watch or stay awake the whole night.
You would had just to check you PoE account the next day to see if you looted something

(And if you were that much an adult, no taunt intend^^', you should not be able to be trapped for some maybe 60+% chance to get a shiny maybe 5euros MTX, you could allready have, and skip a whole night for this XD)

I did watch the full stream, get no loot, but who cares?

Not me, those "drops" were jusst the icing on the cake.

The real big drop for me was that stunning, breath taking 4.0 announcement...

Specially the part where Christ said that the improved engine and many other component of it will come along the way of the release.

This plus all the subtle tackle on Blizz was more than enought to satisfy me.

More than 9 hours and I have 0 Drop. This is not about Luck, after 5,6 hours (5,555..) of stream the chance to get a Drop is 100% according to the web statements.

As they say:

¨Every five minutes of view time you'll have a 1.5% chance to receive one of the prizes which means it would take an average of 5.5 hours of view time to receive a Twitch Drop reward. However, depending on your luck, you could receive one much sooner! Each microtransaction has its own drop rate which will dictate which cosmetic effect you'll receive if you're awarded a drop¨

Full readd here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2676838

This is a FALSE ADVERTISING. I wait to see how they fix this and compensate all users affected.

GGG: "an average of 5.5 hours"

You: "after 5,6 hours ... is 100%"

This is where you are wrong. You cannot calculate 100% / 1,5% * 5 min = 5,6 hours. The latter, as GGG corectly states, is the AVERAGE time to win. Not the time after which the probability to win becomes 100%. (Which would happen only after an INFINITE number of rounds.)

See, you don't have to add probabilites, you have to multiply them:

The probability to NOT have won (at least once) after 5 mins is 98.5%.

The probability to NOT have won after 2 rounds aka 10 min is 98.5% * 98.5%

and so on.

The probability to NOT have won after 100% / 1,5% = 66,6... rounds is 98.5% to the power of 66,6 ...

Which is 36.5%.

This number, in fact, is a universal property of the Poisson distribution.

Let p be the probability to win in one round, then the probability to NOT have won after 1/p rounds (the average time to win) is:

(1-p) ^ (1/p) -> 1/e for small p where e is Euler's constant.

It's the same as fusings.

Don't blame GGG for what your math's teacher didn't tell you.

This, this is exactly the kind of GGG white knight that does more damage to GGG's PR than helping.

Now, apparently your math prof not only taught you probability but also media manipulation. Could you do some calculations for us?

How many out of 50 ppl replying in thread could potentially get a loot?
How many out of 2000 ppl posting in reddit could potentially get a loot?
How many out of 10000 ppl viewing in twitch could potentially get a loot?
Better yet, how many reward did GGG potentially give out during last live stream section? (hint:it was more than 1000)

All your calculations focus on the probability of ONE person getting the loot and blame him/her for not understanding simple 36.5% chance or math. How about let's take a look at the big picture? There are only like 5 or so evidence showing ppl getting loot. Did it ever cross your mind that the true drop rate is much lower than GGG published?

drops are a lie
The main char is a half-elf for the whole story OSHOCK FACEo
Reading a few of the comments in here and I'm really looking forward to the new tinfoil hat base type
Don't miss out on the double drops today!

- here's my sig
I'm linked on live servers now. Gonna enjoy the show. If I get lucky and win something, great, if not, well luck was just not there. At least the live stream of the Con is offered so it keeps the player base informed, which is a lot more than a company like Blizzard would offer to watch for free. Gotta count your blessings as they come. Trying to be optimistic here regardless of any drop. So far I like the new content that will be coming, and looking forward to any new reveals.

Edit: drops were enabled when I 1st logged into the live stream, even though the event hasn't started yet today. Now it appears they aren't for some reason.

Event has started again and it says broadcaster has not enabled in-game drops. Interesting.

refreshed and enabled again.

It's going to be hilarious if drops don't work again after doubling the rate.
Currently twitch say below the stream that twitch drops are disabled so... *shrug*

Edit: And it changed after a refresh.
