Why did everyone hate Synthesis?

I didn't hate it, but I do have to say by the time the bugs were ironed out it was already getting old for me.

Give it high marks for creativity but it was very tedious.
Censored.
Once they had largely fixed the problems with it (relaxing the restrictions on placing and rearranging tiles, fixing map drops) Synthesis was a pretty good league.

The only major problem that remained was the incredibly opaque way the synthesizer worked.

If they had added a little menu that gave you odds for every possible implicit you could land making each use of the synthesizer entirely transparent to all players, it would've been a huge improvement.

I still think they should bring it back, with a few changes:

1. Make the possible results from the Synthesizer transparent.
2. Consider reducing the number of fractured items inserted into the Synthesizer from three down to two, and adjust the results appropriately so all the top synth results that required two T1 and one T2 of the same affix instead just require two T1 affixes, and adjust all the lesser results from there. Reduced availability of fractured items will help keep this change in check, but other adjustments might be necessary. I think it's worth doing to simplify the display and cut down on fractured item hording.
3. Adjust the values for some synthesized implicits.
4. Slow the rate of memory collapses so it's nearly impossible to fail a memory (due to the dramatically reduced occurrence rate of finding memories you don't want an unfortunate turn and RNG to collapse a memory behind you).
5. Increase the occurrence of Boss tiles in the vault to somewhat offset reduced availability compared to Synthesis League (and maybe not let them benefit from ridiculous amounts of map affixes).
6. Collapsing Memories are Zana's new daily, replacing random maps.

i think he back in 3.9 update =)
Well, I just checked my standard stash and I have 6 tabs of synthesized items - and I was fairly selective on what I kept.

Sound good? I used the synthesizer probably 2-3 times and then gave up. Why would I be a glutton for punishment and collect that many? Because I thought surely GGG is going to fix this mess. Perhaps they eventually did - I don't know since I had quit the league.

It was very unfortunate because I was super pumped for the league. GGG needs to rethink their BS of not explaining anything when the league starts or just do a Legion style and all is good.

I hated Synthesis for these reasons:

1. it was useless minigame before you reached levels of crafting bases (so basically 82+ zones) if you wanted to pick up stuff
2. good usage of league mechanic was heavily relying on trade and as semi SSF player (mostly solo, but on trade league) it was basically unavoidable to trade the bases.
3. too many 2 way tiles - hard to create paths (got fixed post mortem)
4. bosses could spawn on unreachable tile (many fixes along the league, not sure if solved, perhaps post mortem)
5. crashes, crashes, crashes, and limited amount of uses of the tiles
6. mobs killing you from behind the cloud (not sure if fixed, post mortem)
7. spreading cloud sometimes unpredictable, ending your run before it started
8. even more emphasis on clear speed /movement builds

Overall it was interesting crafting layer which will be missed by top end crafters, while the enjoyment of the league was killed by halfassed new meta game through board game, which was changed heavily yet still sucked.

3.13 was the golden age.
When you need a third party tool to know wtf youre doing with your syntesis items and what mods you need to make something and what mods you can possibly get its badly designed.

If synthesis had a UI that had these things i think people would like it.
o.o

I liked Synthesis fairly well at first but it had two major problems later on.

First, you could not choose when to switch between mapping and Synthesis unless you wasted puzzle pieces.

Second, the boss fights were unpleasant to play. Too small an arena and too hard.

It's unfortunate that the second point continues in the small amount of Synthesis content that did go core.
I liked it, it wasnt in a proper state when they implemented it. After the fixes it was fun
cause the items kind of broke the game in synthesis.
and the 3 item combination thing was uber complex like a whole book for recipes.

Slowed my roll.

These games don't need that shit. Actually all I want to do is move fast kill shit get loot and not use my brain. These games are supposed to be cathartic not fucking chess.
