Why is GGG allowing "one shot" monsters?

It is just that GGG allows no-defense characters, not that the monsters are the problem.

IMHO, the game is a joke in terms of building up defenses and playing around them.

this is mainly for HC

Here's the thing. The game isn't designed around HC. It's a optional mode you CHOOSE to enable. Have fun starting over.
Because they have cornered themselves into a dead end with extreme recovery and leech mechanics. If you are not getting one shot, you are not dying. Period.

Gameplay needs a complete revamp. Every new 3 months, game is becoming more and more like a failed version of Dark Souls.
After 8 years of exclusively HC, I went SC this league for the first time -- best move and likely I'll stay at least until we see PoE 2 -- gimme a chance to actually experience end game content as a slightly-more-than-casual casual.
I'm the Ps guy: Psomm, Pso, Psong, pso-on and pso-phorth.
i'm more worried about performances in high density influenced maps.

there wouldn't be any issues if there was no 4 seconds freeze when betrayal jumps you in such a map , on an SSD!

getting a bit worse every league, and thats worse than any legitimate fluid one shot.

one shot with me having control of my char? i guess, fair.
"one shot" while not having control of your character, not so fair.

at least storymode and lower density maps/non-influenced feels alright, really sucks after that though.

if they want a better retention they gotta start worrying about performances.

there's a reason this league died 1 month into it even with all these people stuck at home. hope they figure it out.

It gets old if your a persistent HC player but I've found a league or two in SC mixed in helps bring out both what you enjoy and play a different playstyle for a while is actually pretty fun.

You can play really shitty skills and crush everything, run stupid maps you really shouldn't be running its all pretty fun but the missing lose state usually catches up to you eventually.

This is one of those things that's been well-documented in their design manifestos. You're best served by learning what you can about the history of the issue.

That's right, that's why I'm going to quit the game.
I do not agree with their choices, moreover implemented badly in this latest league.
I've been playing for almost 6 years and I have to admit that now more than ever,
I feel the game far from what it should amuse me.
If they only want elite players with so many hours available, then they have taken the right path, but I will not be part of it.

The problem is not only the "oneshot", the game has many problems, which are punctually repeated at each league.

sorry for my bad english.
Because if you cant kill player in one hit, they become lietrally unkillable. Its the only way for GGG to make us die sometimes w/o changing this game to something that 70% of current playerbase would hate (aka slow game from old times when monsters actually had time to react and attack us)

Absolutely right, its fun just not worrying about anything blowing money on stuff not caring about what maps I run and just hitting stuff I never would have touched in HC.

It's a slog though. I'm not into challenges/achievements in the least (in any game, ever), just trying to get my atlas done is a huge pita feels like work more than fun and yet feels unfortunately necessary.

Regardless, good mixing it up.

Short Answer: Because people that get one shooted are keep playing the game even years later.

Long answer: Because from a design perspective creating frustration is more efficient than disney, I can recommend you some books that are pretty accurate on this :)
Hf :)
