Good bye poe fun whil-
" Two big issues I have with Grim Dawn: - No online server, which means no player economy, trading. - Combat is clunky, and the engine is really dated. Many skill effects have weak sound too. I find D2: Median XL (or Path of Diablo) which are mods of decade old game so much more fluid to play in comparison, and those has dedicated servers. " GD is a good game no doubt and wolcen looks really promising but it maybe has 10% of poe's content when it starts. And "we will get a glimpse of D4 soon"? I couldn't care less! D3 isn't a bad game for 1 day or 2 but after that you already have everything so the long term motivation is sadly zero. I REALLY do not believe in blizzard making a great new diabolo anymore. GD is a great offline experience, I enjoy the setting and most of the mechanics. Not really the same as PoE though. Similar to me as Borderlands were I like going through the story and maybe trying a few builds but don't end up "hooked".
Wolcen effing sucks, but when I played it was super early so who knows, its core mechanics were 1 dimensional, poorly thought out trash. I did like the baked in "dodge" and ways to alter it though I guess, and they didn't even have the transformation stuff in that might make a difference. |

Wolcen got Act1 and some good content coming soon too, i'm pretty happy it will be bigger and better with a bit more time^^. (The graphic quality and sounds/effects is allready insane for this new young team, well they polish and rework everything since a few years now^^')
D3 was great at release, people are spitting on it now because there is clearly no updates since so much years (1class yuhu..) but i had a great time on it for a few month, its already an achievement, so i will enjoy D4 if it came one day on PC device and quality ^^'. Last Epoch is still pretty early in graphics and story, cheap on that side but have good ideas for builds, classes and stuff, i hope they will improve it after it get released in April 2020. PoE, well, everyone is waiting the 4.0 i guess, even GGG so, even if some leagues are a bit "crappy" in term of design or execution, everyone still came back to check how it goes^^. |

For all it's problems nothing comes close to the style and actually in depth ARPG mechanics/trading like PoE. There have been a few new additions that all beat D3--like that's hard--but in the Western world PoE is still the king.
I really doubt Blizzard will veer back to their old ARPG model with D4. They will repeat the same mistakes and rely on the that hype build-up for a huge hit of initial box sales and begin their usual development cycle. Blizzard are so worried about third party sites and greedy for profit that they eliminated half the reason for playing these ARPGs - looting/trading. A perfect example of a solution that's worse than the problem. If they announce no real trading in D4, nothing will change. No BoP, no BoE , no stupid "you can trade only to 3 people within 2 hour of receiving loot". Actually PROPER TRADING. Last edited by poeGT#1333 on Sep 21, 2019, 5:33:28 PM

" Will they have all the act's open on release? or doing what PoE did and releasing them over time. It looks very interesting, but i don't like playing games piecemeal. |

" Well, it stopped being an ARPG around 1.4.0, as that was the time power creep became mandatory, loot started dropping like candy, and difficulty went downhill. PoE still has decent amounts of action, but it should also be relegated to a "pew-pew arcade shooter" mandatory meta focused Clicker Heroes subgenre these days. Heck, Borderlands series is more an ARPG than PoE these days, regarding the ACTION (way better than PoE at anytime) and the RPG side - as shallow as they are, the RPG elements like loot and character progression are above those from PoE by a landslide, you actually FEEL that gradually progression and better loot as you play the game way better than in PoE... Beside, real ARPGs like Grim Dawn, simply lack the MMO aspect that PoE does "so well" ("humans being humans" and all), and Wolcen and Last Epoch will be at least decent. Throw in some W40K Inquisitor Martyr, Darksiders Genesis and even Torchlight Frontiers, and competition starts to show, so I understand why PoE needs to constantly improve... But do run any of the other "completed" games, and enjoy a game where most of the times, you will not experience "slow downs", as the technical aspects and graphics simply "JUST WORK", and that is one of the reasons why PoE got so much flak regarding it's lackluster performance since Betrayal onwards... As I said before, PoE needs to "git gud & up to snuff", especially if they want to keep their status as the top game of the "genre"... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... |
