So? shatter sound?!?
i hope this isnt an ego/pride thing....
just switch it back, its a sound file, copy the old one, paste it over the new one, its fixed, the game is better as a result and we can all move on. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

LOL I wouldn't even doubt it is a pride ego thing like if it sounds awful it sounds awful you aren't going to change people's minds by modifying it.

" they're constantly changing all parts of the game. refactoring code and updating tech to new systems. i think it's a rather good thing although there are certainly people finding it bad independent what they do (or don't) age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" The issue with the old sound was it wasn't performant. Depending on what runtime filters the sound was using, that could very well have been the case. Reverb, for example, is incredibly expensive CPU wise (but gives a great echo to samples). Toss in a bunch of instances of that effect and BAM - client side lag. There's a lot of complexity to dynamic sounds in games with good sound design. It's not as simple as playing a wav file. Be patient and allow them to iterate. |

Care to elaborate? The only thing you said is "reverb is CPU-intensive"... which applies to any sound, both old and new. You either have reverb on in game setting, or you have it off.
So how exactly one soundfile could cause technical issues(and what issues exactly) while other one would not? |

"TIL. Ive noticed that shatters with HoI this league seemed far more performant this league than legion but then again half of legion was dropping to 12 fps when you instant burst a monolith pack. IGN: Arlianth

Just give us back the old shatter sound please. That sound is the reason why I mostly incorporate HOI in my build and also the reason why I bought herald mtx. I don’t really enjoy the game without it.

" In FMOD, which POE uses, you can assign Reverb to specific samples (events). So, shatter may not use whatever global toggle they use on reverb as a whole. It could also be any dozen of other filters that FMOD has available which aren't the best thing for the CPU (especially if they use FFTs like Reverb does). I don't have their FMOD project so I can't tell you exactly why it wasn't performant, but I can tell you it is very much possible for one sound to be MORE performant than another. |

" It makes sense. It was 2 leagues ago when op WOrb froze clients and who knows what else with off screen shattering Gives streamers & friends queue priority and leaves supporters who spent hundreds $ packs in the 100k queue.
GGG: Don't you guys follow streamers? | |
" so just turn the reverb off on it the way the new one obviously has it off then, dont change the actual sound. if it sounds better with a little reverb then bounce out the original sound with a touch of reverb baked in. the old shatters sounded off when u were somewhere with loads of reverb anyway. it IS as simple as its just a sound file.
