Toxic Global Chat

simple, just turn off global

???

enjoy the game!
To all those who say “just block them.” Think of games where toxicity is a problem, say DOTA 2...or most any MOBA. Toxicity creates a reputation that is bad for the game. Micromanaging it too severely is bad for the game, but there really is no reason for someone to say something like, “Your mother should have been burned alive while she was pregnant with you.” Statements like that are actually fairly tame on toxic games.

I'm pretty sure league turned into a billion dollar profit even with all that toxicity. As I see it so far, toxicity has very little bearing on a game's growth.
Grow thicker skin or mute and move on.

LOL grew from players of DOTA 2 who were fed up with the level of toxicity. LOL even introduced a tribunal system where players judged complaints before being reviewed by devs for moderation (I haven’t the faintest clue if that still is a thing or not). MOBAS as a whole are much worse than anything a grinding game will have, and that’s due to a high skill cap and your teammates suffering from your failures. I don’t have screen shots from the OP, so I haven’t the faintest clue on what level it is.

Put it this way. GGG cares first and foremost about profit, and in a general sense more players = more money. Even people who don’t spend anything are part of a community who does. Now everything else aside since the issue is toxicity, GGG has to find a balance between a level that will cause people to leave the game because of it and people who will leave the game because of the management of it. Of course it’s not that simple, but I’m not going to speculate on the dozens of what ifs.

Since LoL was brought up, that is one place they excelled at. I played LoL for several years and consistently heard much worse than anything the OP hinted at, but the community had a higher tolerance for it. And again, LoL had to find their own balance, and that balance is different for PoE. LoL has(d) the tribunal system. During load up screens, they showed statistics of games when toxic chat was reported vs not. PoE invested more into combating toxicity in their game than any game I have ever played.

Again why my initial comment was to take screenshots and submit them to support. If support had 20+ complaints from different people of one player being toxic, they would probably take some sort of action, but without screenshots or at least specific quotes, they have very little to go on. And again reporting on the forums is naught more than griping.
it's amusing to me any game with a day and night active player base has a "toxic" community

it's almost as if it's not related to the game. it's almost as if people are just mean, and you run into more of them when millions of people play a game.

such a strange thing to lose sleep over too. that's what they want you to do, come to a forum and spend energy on their memory when they've already forgotten they ever interacted with you. the trolls always win

I started playing this game in breach league and after coming from Dota community I found Poe community to be a heaven where people help each other and have fun but now that is declining, people now are not helpful to the new or returning player and are spreading cancer but its not that of big problem but there is huge change
If u think poe chat is toxic oh SWEET SUMMERCHILD go play some dota2 and you will embrace the full cancer of the toxicity.
Still sane exile?

Turn off chat. Problem solved.

Sorry Shags, but to you and all the others with this solution I say NO!

It's the equivalent of telling that bullied kid at school to just wear ear protection just so they can't hear all those spiteful comments.

Problem solved? I think not. I actually saw the OPs conversation last night and reported the dude making evil comments twice, once when he abused me after I sent a polite PM telling him to watch his language, and again when the asshole turned around in global with the 'go kys' comment. 20mins later the shit was still flying so god knows where the moderators were.

How we behave irl should be how we behave online.

Matt.
There are 10 types of people. Those that know binary, and those that dont.
I love global chat.

Ever play an organized sport? Locker room banter? Stand across from your opponent; look straight at them; listen to their 'threats' and provide your own unique response?

Love it... because that's what it's all about.

DEALING WITH IT.

Global chat ranges from nonsense shit talking to explosive subjective arguments.

It can be a hell of a lot of fun if you know how to navigate it.

Train yourself to deal with Global 1. Quit taking it personally.

Consider it a social skill on how to overcome the snares of yet another weird place in society.

You'll be better for it.

Or yea, you could just turn it off and run away from it.

Your call.

There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands.
You need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of foreign lands.
