Does POE require a new game engine? if yes how much does it gonna cost?

Actually, if you read the thread, most respondents here have been similarly critical of this idea that engines are an "easily swappable piece that can be just pulled out and and upgraded like a video card." So the community, at least as represented by the people in this thread, is more sensible than you're giving it credit for.
I got a stupid question.

How hard is it to make ggg's current engine intelligently not render things that are not important to the player? When I play wow, I can join a raid of 30 people and pop bloodlust on bosses and my computer doesn't even flinch. This happens because the game doesn't even render things that are deemed not important to the player.

It's extremely easy for GGG to turn off certain skill effects like the frozen ground from ice shot, burning ground from the map pool, gore from belly of the beast or FB.

Why don't they do that as an option? I noticed even the smallest of things like firing arrows against a wall.. those arrows don't seem to ever despawn. The more you fire, the more your client has to spend time rendering more objects. Yet in a podcast with chris himself, he says the poe engine is already very optimized.... kind of demoralizing to hear that.

It really is though, I've never seen any other game that could handle half the amount of corpses you can build up in this one.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

Or CoC for that matter. The engine seems to be doing just fine... unless people throw some utter seizure-inducing insanity at it. Which, let's be honest, quite a few will at the first opportunity.

One thing I remember from that one baeclast episode with Jonathan was him pretty much saying that the engine is really good, but the players are still better at breaking it. Yet at the same time, GGG doesn't want to take the option of doing so from us.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
Fire any random aoe or ranged skill into any pack of harbinger and the engine will shatter under it's own weight. This is not the player's fault.

There are just aspects of the game that are way too flashy than they need to do and every league potentially adds more and more to the support columns.

Aint nothing wrong with GGG's engine.

Yea, I'd like to see more emphasis on the physics engine, mostly collision detection, but hey whatever, that's just me.

Why upgrade it? No need. If you dumpin bad data into your system, your engine won't mean shit.

Shit happens, it gets fixed...eventually

Otherwise you get Age of Conan. Good foundation, lame AF execution.

There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands.
You need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of foreign lands.
Maybe?
Many bucks.

Haven't played in a while but isn't this because POE "merges" the corpse into the ground. There is no need to render anything because the corpse simply becomes a texture rather than being left as a 3D object.
