No ninja in pug group descriptions?
" What exactly did I just read? That skill and probability of being a ninja scales with.. your computer? That's nice. And regarding "whiny d3 players", the one thing Blizzard actually did do properly was the loot system. That is a wonderful way of sorting loots, and I see no issue in that model. Now on to the topic. You'll pretty much have to accept, that ninjas will always be around, no matter what. I guess your best way of avoiding it, is getting some good friends on here and play with them instead of public games. Btw, I'm not actually sure how the loot system works on here, could anyone clarify? Last edited by Kuchiwa#7196 on Mar 13, 2013, 1:55:23 PM

" Any loot above a white item is marked with a player's name for X seconds, where X is a variable determined by your distance to the item (I think). During this time, only the person named may pick it up. After this timer runs out, the item loses it's name designation and can be picked up by anyone. Now, since it'll eventually be said anyway, supporters of this system argue that it fits the game's backstory and enhances the playing experience, that the designation loses any effect once the timer is up, and will quote you developer posts to this effect. Detractors of the system will argue that it discourages partying and forces players away due to its harsh nature. Do note that developers have also noted this strong stance against it and are taking this dissent into account, but no other detail has been given. On topic, I find it kind of hilarious that anyone who expresses dissent towards the loot system is usually met with insults, more often than not consisting of D3-related expressions and/or a hardly polite request to "play another game". It's like you can't even express a different opinion to these people. This coming from someone who plays and enjoys both games, and accepts that the loot system is, for now, here to stay, and adapts to it when necessary. when i play in groups i always make the group myself and include a FFA, so if someone whines about ninja he gets kicked.

I wouldn't mind the FFA nature of the loot nearly so much if there was some level of pickup radius to items. As it is, you can often be blocked from picking up your item if someone is standing on it first. Either party collision needs to go, or items need to get a pickup radius bigger than a pin head.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

" This is one of a few minor tweaks to the loot system I definitely would recommend. I also wonder if the standoff timer is quite right. I know that the timer was picked to give ranged and melee equal time to target, but I wonder if they considered the need of ranged to be a little bit more careful rushing forward in that? I.e., it would seem like a few hundred more milliseconds would be in order for standoff. But that's just a subjective sense I have. |

I think the click-box on loot should be large while its under a timer and shrink to normal as timer counts down. After the timer is up FFA.
also- i dont find it hard to find people who dont hover over your loot waiting to ninja. I dont party all the time, but when i do i can usually find a group who will wait an extra second or two for you to grab an item, or at least not hover over names items. uniques are always fair game though- thats just life. " They will only be whining if a ninja is present. M2MCL2N Maps to Map Creator, Loot to Named Pretty catchy? M2MCFFA Maps to Map Creator, Loot is as per normal game rules etc Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. Last edited by GhostlightX#1022 on Mar 13, 2013, 3:32:52 PM

translates to ... "All the ninjas are in this group"
GGG - Why you no?

" On the contrary. The best group for a ninja is a group labelled "No ninja". It's the way they operate. They are wiley. And the real carfty ones...sheesh...when asked if it was them who ninjaed in the confusion, they will say "No", or ~"What Exalted Orb?". Trickery....damn trickery. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. " Couldn't agree more. The moment you collide with someone you have to click on your item again or else you don't pick it up. In addition to this, you now have to go around the person, which generally means you have lost the chance at the item, because the person you collided with, is standing there frantically clicking on your drop and preventing you from getting it until the timer expires. There is a 600+ page thread on this and other loot issues and still GGG have not done a thing about loot options other than lock threads that talk about it. Quite astonished this thread hasn't been locked yet. . |
