Nerf to spellcasters is UNJUSTIFIED!

With the fact dense fossils can no longer be used to craft ES gear means that any energy shield spec will be so expensive its unplayable even if you could work around nerfs, unless the change somehow takes that fact into account. CI could well be a dead talent for a few leagues...

A lot of changes, to be sure. Most of them fully justified. With enough investment (for the rich and the nolifers out there) insane ES was achievable. Not so much for the rest of us casuals. Even getting sufficient life is a stretch, though not as much of one.
Flat out gutting the mana sustain from warlords mark, without introducing alternatives (wait and see what the new tree brings) was pretty harsh, if not outright idiotic. Honestly I never used it, like, ever. If I had mana sustain issues I usually ended up trashing a build and starting over rather than rely on a crutch (which is what WM was). Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. |

instead of buffing the poor HP nodes they nerfed the ES nodes, removed wicked ward completely and nerfed vile bastion...

I think they overbuffed a bit there quite several things. It also looks like it's a forced "play melee" this league :( . spin to win people

Welcome to PoE, where GGG does everything they can to make new leagues center around their planned FotM builds. Melee is the new flavor, meaning spellcasters need to die.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. |

Their heavy handed "balancing" every league puts people off. It isn't balance. It is a decree on which builds to play, and the opposite.
Just let people play what they want. Jeez. This is why a lot of people are quitting, or have already. It does get tiresome. Censored.

GGG doesn't tell you what builds you can and can't play. They give out an enormous number of tools for their players to build a character with, and hope that combinations of those tools can be powerful enough to beat the obstacles they put out for us to play with. When people find combinations of those tools that make their obstacles trivial (at best) or break the game entirely, of course they're going to take the problem tools away, or change them somehow to let us keep them but without trivializing content. Wicked ward is just such a tool. Have you ever played a quick es Regen archer? It's a build that hasn't been very viable for a long time, but might come back now that wicked ward isn't occultist exclusive.
Here's the other thing: if you don't like their changes, beat them at their own game! Make a 6million DPS winter orb character this league just to prove that GGGs nerfs mean nothing to a God like you. Defeat their 'cycle of meta balance'! Win! |
