Nerf to spellcasters is UNJUSTIFIED!
Hi, i am not active forum poster, but i will voice my opinion for 3.7 changes
TLDR: im happy with nerf / adjustment to: Winter Orb, Storm brand, Sould Rend, Bane Melee ascendancies, Melee skills im NOT happy with MASSIVE NERF to: Occultist Elementalist Trickster ============================================================================= We are all happy with the buffs to melee ascendancies majority of players are, HOWEVER, some changes to spell caster is just completely BULL and RANDOM if you have not read the patch notes yet, here is the spell caster ascendancy parts ============================================================================= Occultist: "Wicked Ward has been removed" "Vile Bastion: No longer requires any Ascendancy notables. It now grants 1% energy shield regeneration per second for each enemy you or your minions have killed recently, up to 10% (from a maximum of 30%). No longer grants +150 to maximum energy shield" Elementalist: "Beacon of Ruin: No longer causes elemental ailments from your skills to spread to other nearby enemies. Shocks from your hits now always increase damage taken by 15% (from 20%)" Trickster: "Ghost Dance: Now causes you to gain a Ghost Shroud every 2 seconds (from 1)" "Escape Artist: Now grants 10% chance to dodge hits from Spell Damage while you have Energy Shield (from 20%), and 6% increased Attack and Cast Speed per Ghost Shroud (from 12%). Each of the small passives on the Trickster Ascendancy tree now grant 5% increased energy shield (from 8%) and 14% increased evasion rating (from 8%)" ============================================================================= we are all happy with the changes to melee BUT, YOU DID NOT HAVE TO DO THIS WITH SPELLCASTERS IN ORDER TO FORCE PLAYERS TO PLAY MELEE Chris Wilson mentioned that: "Path of exile is designed to be played forever" this is what he meant, by making us circle around a "roulette" of design. they design certain mechanics/system in the game that FORCES you to play the way THEY WANT you to play and repeat that cycle over the years i have been in PoE since ver2.0 and i feel that this has been the longest problem of the game i have no problem with changing "meta" as i also play other games like LoL and Dota but killing a certain aspect of the game just so that the other one will stand out is a bad design philosophy in my opinion if 'A' is too strong and 'B' is too weak you just have to buff B, YOU DO NOT NEED TO: "nerf A at the same time buff B" Last bumped on Jun 10, 2019, 3:47:56 PM

Trickster nerf was necesary and fair. Those stacks gave so much defensive and offensive power and they were 100% full stacked on my character last league.
It's not eveen that bad. Occultist reached levels of 20k ES last league. that is not OK. Nerf required because no build should be able to sitin all the shit and still survive and kill everything. Beacon of Ruin was broken form the moment it was implemented and it should have been addressed the next league. I am surprised it lasted this long. "Never argue with an idiot. Spell casters are unquestionably the best at fast clear. No change there.
They want them to be squishy, and now they will be. I am not defending it, but it makes a certain sense to me. You could cut spell damage or range by 50%, or you could cut some defense. |

" You are not a game designer so you don't really have a clue what balance is or how hard it is to achieve it either. ES will still be the stongest with enough investment and trickster will still shine because just the values were nerfed but the mechanics that made him strong are still tehre working as usual. " Yeah because of stupid items. Look at my gear here, is that bad? I know it might not be top-tier, but its definately good ES gear, and I reach 11.6k with my lvl 94 Occultist, not 20k. I know better than you that's for sure along with that other guy because quite frankly you insulting me is laughable that's fine but I have much more experience than most of you combined in every single aspect and you have nothing compared to me. It is justified.
Something that I've found quite stupid on the new Trickster ( and even the old with Weave the arcane ), is the fact that it gives as much cast speed as attack speed .... HOW THE FUCK are those things considered the same when it comes to their value ? They aren't ! Stop putting them at the same value ffs, now the attack speed bonus also gets nerfed when the cast speed alone was the problem ( for that particular boost ) imho. But overall, obviously Trickster was too strong. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. There are two specific nerfs that I think went overboard:
1. Occultist's Vile Bastion: 10% conditional regen and stun immunity just isn't very good for a defensive ascendancy node. I would have suggested keeping the +150 ES there, since Occultist was already losing increased % and the other +100 ES (plus additional nerfs to the tree). There are also very few options for a non-DoT Occultist these days, which is a sharp turn from her old design. 2. Molten Strike: This skill was the only competitive melee skill until this league, when many others were buffed. If GGG calculated that MS would still be on top despite all the other changes, then certainly it deserved a nerf. However, nerfing the damage and utility with Ancestral Call at the same time injured the skill multiplicatively to the point where it is now underwhelming - personally, I'm not sure what its use will be right now for either clearing or bossing. I would have suggested simply doing numerical damage nerfs. I was frustrated with the manifesto yesterday and with the patch notes today, but after pondering for a bit I think I can boil my complaints down to those two points.
