Diablo 4 Would Kill Path of Exile
The word 'content' has been thrown around a lot, & if you don't know anything about PoE, you would think that PoE is now a massive game set in such a big world, where you need mounts, ships etc to move around this massive world, & not few additional instance hubs (like the Nexus), & more rehashed instances using the same tilesets repeatedly,
COntents is not just additional & more fancy gears & stats that 99% of time that doesn't add anything new to gameplay ( & making chance to get the stats you want harder), just more power creep with bigger numbers, & more fancy way to add to the number. Now I can have a synthesize ring with % attribute, that totally change ethe gameplay experience....not Content is not just fancier crafting 99% of more play base do not use due to excessive RNG, rarity of the crafting currencies & high cost of the craft & the diminishing return of investment compare to 1 alch uniques. Can't see this happening really.

" The only reason POE is not for casuals it is because it is grindy to no end with poor return, at least for this league, not because it is a ''challenging ARPG''. I could see a casual playing POE standard without many issues (maybe less now thanks to Syndicate freezing issue). |

" Yeah, its totaly not like it takes weeks or even months for new player to learn how to make proper build or learning to price-check their shit because of milion monds on rare items. PoE isnt challenging, however there is a lot of things you should learn while playing it, and "casual scrubs" wont do that (they will just switch to game that not require thinking) Last edited by Aynix#7757 on Apr 20, 2019, 1:15:54 PM

Its ironic that D3 always gets the casual label, when PoE is by far the easier of the 2 games to actually play.
What constitutes "casual" to people? Its obviously not actual game difficulty, otherwise PoE with its 1-2 button presses would lose out. I personally think the entire genre is casual. Its for mindless grinding, almost like fishing. Thats all it is. Just grinding. Just how much time can you devote to this mindless activity? Thats Arpgs in a nutshell. I define casual as ease of play. If you decide devoting time is equal to hardcore-ness, well any game on the market can and has players who devote ungodly amounts of time to those games. Even "casual" D3 has paragon grinds, and those players are probably far more hardcore than anyone who is flaming D3 in this thread. It just always amazes me watching people argue over who, or what, game is more hardcore in a genre that is as difficult to play as clicker heroes. There is nothing hardcore about any Arpg besides how much time you invest. They are casual games, for people who just wanna chill out, and grind away hours of their life. And time invested is such a dumb way to measure "casual" since its completely subjective, considering any game, even clicker heroes, can have hardcore people devoting more time. Sorry for my rant, but this whole "casual" argument is just stupid to me, considering we are playing the easiest genre of games on the market today outside of incremental mobile games, and even those you can devote more time to. I'm at least self-aware enough to realize it. Some of you just love the elitist feeling you get from playing the more "hardcore" game, if thats even a thing, and how thats measured is anyone's guess. " Hack and slash games are in general more casual as you mentioned, but at least here in POE 3 the elitists specifically like to believe that somehow they are some special breed that figured some extremely advanced techniques no one ever did. The only ones that I would not consider casual is the ones that originally came up with the builds, the rest just copy the ''meta'' stuff and call themselves ''pros/elitists'' while they are in fact casuals. |

" It is. Lets look at my typical gameplay. Movement skill: W. Attack: Mouse 2. w,w,w,w,w, Mouse 2, w,w,w,w,w,w, Mouse 2, w,w, Mouse 2. Fast forward 2 weeks. Oh, but a few leagues ago I played Righteous Fire. Ooooohh lemme look at this monster! Movement Skill: W. w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,,w 3 weeks later....w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w,w DAMN THAT DIFFICULTY! Oh was that a rare pack? Who knows. Was that a unique monster? Who knows? Speed bumps on my movement skill simulator. Compared to D3 where you actually have to use every skill on your bar, and rare packs actually kill you. Run into a rare pack with waller/mortar/arcane beams/horde/whatever as an UE DH in a high greater rift. PoE may have more depth that D3, but it damn sure isn't more difficult to actually play, and if you think so you are whiteknighting to the extreme, because anyone who actually sat down and played both games, can realize the difficulty of D3 is higher on an actual gameplay basis. You know, playing PoE is the equivalent of ALWAYS speed running t10-t13s 24/7. Thats what its like to map in PoE. Its like if you just took Greater rifts out of D3, and only had torment 13, thats PoE. Even then, you still gotta mash more than 1-2 buttons in D3. PoE has a few things going for it, but difficulty is not one of them. More Depth, as if it matters, see Snorkle's post, and actual trading/economy. Which, when I decide to play PoE, is the thing I enjoy. If I wanna kill shit, its more fun to do in D3. If I want to amass wealth and play an economy, I play PoE. If I want actual challenging gameplay, I dont play either of these games, since they are piss poor easy and the Arpg genre is the equivalent of fishing. Just a solid time-waster. |

Its not about gameplay. Its about items and builds.
Lets see how is it looking in Diablo 3: Ok, so I want to use X skill. I have literally the only one option, Y class, because otherwise it will be dogshit. What about items? Guess what, ONE option as well, fucking unique/ancient set, otherwise your dmg will be dogshit as well! Such variety, much wow. |
