Chisel, Alch, Vaal + Sextant = No map sustain?

I just don't understand what you have done to this league? For over a year, all of the last 3 leagues, map sustain was fine.

Now I've spent basically all of my currency just on maps. Paid my way to get an elder map and chisel+alch+vaal+sextant all the maps i run and yet have no map sustain. I run lots of memories with stacked mods, no maps.

Where are the maps?

What have you done GGG?

Seems like they are guarding servers load. Less map and currency drop > less players online. Less rants.

It was kinda ok for few days after they admitted maps drop were broken and they fixed it on server side, but then things turn south again. Im stuck at yellows, just because running red maps gives yellows at the top of it. And this is with 133 atlas bonus. Also running in parties with guildmates seeing they just spending maps without returns. Even in a 4 men+ parties! So map pool degrades effectively to low tiers now.

Noob player here, i have at least 1-2 map drops same tier or above 95%.
BTW just alc and go. I just chisel t15 maps.

The map sustain is abysmal this league, I can only add to that.

Tested out how to sustain T16 maps, as that's my guideline:

Betrayal league:
Sustain is achieved by Chisel + Alch + Zana mod, decent prophecies and sextants, minimum quant of map at 80% kept you at 0 sum playing without any good sextant rolls.

Synthesis league:
Sustain is achieved by Chisel + Alch + Zana Mod and sextants, decent prophecies and vaaling. Only at 100% quant you have a chance to even sustain. Since that requires a massive input of currency you have to run delve + nexus and hope for drops.
Alternatively you use Cartographer Scarabs whenever you get 3 decent rolled maps and a good cycle of sextants, then you'll 1,5 sustain.
Double sustain is achieved with that + 500% quant sextant
Tripple sustain with 500% quant + monstrous treasure (which empties out the memory fragment, which I find fairly mind-boggling that has been overlooked).

So yeah, map-sustain is absolutely screwed this league, they need to change it again. It's not fun anymore as it makes it a literal chore. Given the new league-mechanic forces you to permanently run T16 or loose the chance to get ilvl 86 fractured items (without major luck) it's just another reason to play standard, there you'll probably have enough maps left to roll and make sustain easier.

I just spent 2ex on maps because they don't drop enough.

Maybe ggg wants to encourage trading? (Jokes)

I concur with all the above posts about map drops being absolutely abysmal this league, I am running maps at 155 quant and still get one to two red maps in every 4 maps and that's with 140% atlas completion, I am actually getting more tier 3 maps than I am tier 10 + when running reds, it's nuts. How in the hell I only have 17 tier 10 maps and nearly 50 t9 is a complete mystery when I have only done two cartographers chests in temple one of which was a level 78. I spent a multiple evenings farming red maps to try and achieve a red elder, get atlas completion, get pantheon before running out of maps and just letting elder spawn on a t10 so it's really not like I am sitting farming tier 8 maps (although now I will be to try and build some kind of supply so I can actually finish my zana quest).


Figured i'd try the nexus as I had quite a few level 78/80+ memories but no maps are dropping there either so no f'ing idea what the issue is.

Look at the trade lists how many maps are up for sale. Where do you think these players got them? From a map tree? From the map pixies?

Nothing you do guarantees anything in PoE, it's all random. 155% IIQ doesn't mean "you get map drops now".

The only thing broken in this thread is your expectation.

Ahh another patronising individual here to tell us how entitled we all are for actually wanting to play the game. Given that literally everything is gated behind the atlas it's not unreasonable to consider that we should shouldn't have to sacrifice our first born to RNGesus just to just play the f'ing game. Now i'm not talking about tier 14+ maps here, I agree that the higher you progress in your atlas the harder getting maps should be, but peaking at tier 10 is just plain horse manure however you spin it.


Haven't had an exalt drop this league? That's bad RNG poor luck and I can grin and bear it.

Can't actually progress in the game because maps are favouring tier 3-5 map drops even at tier 15 then yea, i'm going to start getting salty after the best part of a week.

Maybe if GGG were transparent about the manner in which they have tweaked/nerfed the map drops every league then these posts wouldn't keep popping up and the enlightened and superior supporters such as yourself wouldn't need to be so tired with our inferior entitlement.
