Been having this exact problem since Harbinger. Didn't get to play at all after a couple of weeks into Delve. Missed the entire last league because of this as well.

Well thats sounds rather promissing........
I hope GGG fixes this problem soon.
Could you please try reinstalling DirectX from the 'Redist' folder located inside the Path of Exile folder on your computer?

If you use the Stand-alone client, you should be able to find this under the [Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile] directory.

If you use the Steam client, you should be able to find this under the [Steam/steamapps/common/Path of Exile] directory.

If you continue to encounter any issues, please email us at techsupport@grindinggear.com and we will be happy to troubleshoot this further with you.

Can confirm there is no 'redist' folder for steam version
I keep crashing since started mapping this league, only occurs when i'm in the middle of killing a big pack of mobs...

No error msg, event viewer shows 0xc0000005 code.

Steam has a dedicated directory for redists by the way:

steam\steamapps\common\steamworks shared\_CommonRedist
The DirectX redist in the POE folder is completely out-dated, cause it is for DirectX 9.0c (from Aug. 2009) and this isn't supported anymore since the last POE patch 3.6.

The newer DirectX versions (DX 11 and 12) are only available from "Windows update", s. How to install the latest version of DirectX, e.g.:
"

Windows 10 and Server 2016 Technical Preview

DirectX 11.3 and 12 are included with these Windows versions.

Updates will be available through Windows Update. There is no stand-alone package for these versions of DirectX.

The main components are installed by the graphics driver, so you should check, if you have the latest (stable) driver.
