Effect of patch 3.6 on new players.
" 1) I agree that GGG can NOT just nerf a bit something and leave it in a way that it is still enjoyable and a good option to build around for endgame. Items or gems, GGG simply seem to prefer to kill stuff with just 1 deadly nerfhammer hit. Then, 2 years later they give you the chance to play it again for 2 leagues but only by 1 specific way or you gotta play in acts only. -_- 2) Did they say/write its "no nerfs" in players'POV? :D I do no try to defend them, but looking from all angles they could be still right, in a very sad sick way. -_- Buffing melee was pointed for 3.7 iirc, but in general its one of those things in this game that seem to be hard to balance and even harder with all those changes/new metas and new uniques with unique mods/. IMO melee should be more like those tanky Ele hit builds or with other words: got enough damage by default and room for getting defenses cuz anyway leech with those billions dps is sick if not dead. Slow down for a minute to enjoy the beauty around us.

" New players will just play whatever streamers will tell them to. All those nerf doesnt matter for them, at all. |

Normal leech was not changed whatsoever. Play a Champion, or a Juggernaut, or a Raider, grab Leech, you'll see a grand total of zero changes.
I know it's cool and all to cry the sky is falling, and making Mountains out of molehills is super serious business. |

oh well, GGG kinda broke two of my characters anyways.
Poet pen VD and slayer (again !) |

" I see these comments all the time since beginning. What about adapting or trying new things? PP - VD - fair nerf, it was OP and required no skill (aiming whatever) at all. You need probably twice as much attack speed as before mow to fix it. Slayer - his leech ability was far superior to other methods of leeching so rather fair now. He´s still there or you can always convert to Jugg. According to GGG there will be some melee changes in 3.7 and beyond. Last edited by Rakiii#5559 on Mar 6, 2019, 11:54:46 AM

" "Added a cap on the amount of any resource you can leech from any individual instance of leech. By default, that cap is 10% of that resource's maximum. In other words, a character with 4000 life will, by default, be able to leech a maximum of 400 life from a single hit." Pretty sure it used to be 20%. |
|
" I am not 100% sure but there were no cap before so in theory you were able to keep leeching very long (60++ sec) with Slayer´s mechanic (leech on full life). |

OP you've setup a strawman in the name of new players then listed a bunch of problems that will never effect them, just state your arguments by themselves.
New players don't have a PP Leech hasn't changed except for over leech (your mixing up the leech cap with the maximum a leech instance can restore, a nebulous definition to be sure but fundamentally its the same unless you were playing a slayer or scion slayer) they gave major buffs to like half the spells in the game, plenty of them got ~ 30% which is very substantial there are a few skill nerfs but i'm yet to see one that isn't either irrelevant or on a skill in the busted AF category. New players won't give a shit about this because they won't be pushing for the maximum on a day 1 as it is, they didn't tap out a BV build or maximise winter orb they just follow a build guide for fun gameplay all of which will work exactly as they used to. |

" I wasnt referring to the slayer leech nerf, just the basic leech nerf. It used to be a maximum of 20% of your total health per second. This has now been "tweeked" to be exactly 50% worse. I mean it remains to be seen what difference this will make when the syndicate are bashing on your head in an 8 mod t16 map, maybe none. Also, i'm not sure on this, but i believe instant leech wasnt affected by this cap in the past. Now it is, which means some items that used to give instant leech are also now worthless. Mainly i am referring to legacy acurity. I could be wrong about that though as i am only halfway through volume 6 of "leech mechanics in POE", so i have a long long way to go before i can even think about being a leech mechanics specialist. |
