Effect of patch 3.6 on new players.

As far as i know there was quite an influx of new players to poe in betrayal, a lot moving from D3 for reasons known to most.

This influx was very noticable ingame and also on the forums and they seemed to be happy with poe and enthusiastic about their move here.

Well now you have had your first taste of the dreaded nerf notes, an event that happens every three months here.

Leech gutted (my own personal reason for quitting d3 a long time ago), although not the first major nerf of leech in this game, i just find it hard to argue this one was warranted in 99% of cases.

Item trashing. I am talking about poets pen.
Although compared to what they did with mjolner in the past this is nothing. Mjolner went from a 100 ex item to 1 chaos dogshit overnight, that was at a time when 100ex was a lot!
My point being that GGG have zero interest/respect/concern whatever for your time investment in their game, a fact you will learn if you havent already.
Note that mjolner was at a later date buffed again, making the initial shitting on it even more difficult to swallow. (Apologies to anybody with a sensitive stomach).

Lies about "no nerfs", promises about "buffing melee", which are around the corner but always out of reach, meanwhile nerfing it more (see leech nerf), are a normal part of this cycle.

You may be a standard player, in which case you have my sympathy. I used to be a standard player also but the feeling of masochistic abuse became to much to bare and i was finally forced to become a league player.
It is my contention that the plan for standard is to make it unplayable so that GGG can one day remove it from the game entirely.

Anyway to the point of this post.

I would be interested to know how or if these patch notes have changed any new players feelings towards this game, or if they are still as exited about it as they appeared to be in betrayal.

Thank you for reading.

There´s no (noticeable) influence on new players.

Thank you for spending the time to analize all the data and convert it into a format suitable for this forum.
New Players are more adept in adapting to change compare to "Old" players.
Most old/veteran players already have habits that ingrain to them, that's why some of them were more reluctant to change.

Meanwhile, new players are just starting to learn the game, they will treat some of these changes as part of their learning experience. They even not yet experience some of these changes. And most of them will just copy build guides anyway. So the only impact to new players were being more susceptible to falling to a "noob trap" builds, since most of the builds will be untested due to the changes.
"A game IS supposed to waste your time but it's not supposed to make you FEEL like you're wasting your time:
It's supposed to make you WANT to waste your time."
New players will play zombies and farm transmutes so much. As usual. No forseeable impact on them. No any affordable and easy to use skill this league introduced. And since newbs are not foing even first lab, they dont see any ascend changes too.

Maximum they will try brands. But brands are nerfed. So overall newb experience will be much poorer than Delve league. Even B-league..

As I see so far.
But time will tell.
I'm pretty sure it's the long time players and those who invested a lot in their build who are unhappy with some the nerfs they do, but deep down they understand why it had to happen.

New players don't understand or simply don't care about most of the changes.
They just ask if something is still viable and they are happy when someone says "yes".

I'm personally a long time player , since 2013, and I know better than to invest a lot in obviously broken gear or only play in a certain way just to have it trashed in a patch.
You just play some other build that works better for you. It's very simple.

My only complaint is the map tab and different series of maps they seem to introduce with no clear reason. It would be too obvious if it was just to make people buy more tabs.

As a blanket statement, his stance sounds more reasonable.

this. i remember when VP died- i hardly felt it, because i was still quite new. on the other hand, i had a zerphis/poets pathfinder... and i almost quit poe.
"New" players have no idea about the game. And it is really, but really complex and difficult. They will probably start with some melee build, as melee is still usable in Acts or some Witch builds "Oh, yes, spells, they are always powerful!". I remember my first "build". Some witch with... what was that? Spark or shit like this. I manage to get to "Act3" on "normal" difficulty and gave up. Then created really horrible shadow, then ranger - I managed to get to map, without ascendancy, as I did not had a clue, such stupid thing like "Labyrinth" is mandatory for that. But even with such thing (5l OFC) i managed to reach T10 maps (and level 83), without any clue about skills or items and single trade. Then was wrecked on red maps and came to this forum. Made my first lacerate slayer, get to T16. But even then I had barely clue about game.

To conlclude - no effect of any patch for any newbie. As Syndicate is in core game now, they will resign after reaching maps anyway.

Balance is as balance does. I don't understand this feeling of loss of time and "investment" when every 3 months your build and currency dumps into Standard anyway. I mean really, if it's so effing distressing it provokes a maniacal message board rant then one should consider following The Buddha and seeking enlightenment.
