Sarlaiel's DW BM Duelist Build. High life/dps/aoe/regen/block. The perfect DW build
" You are just asking for attention now. I mean, he is right. |

" But wait why would you of rather gotten the 6% attack speed isn't over 3aps enough? |

Not specifically targeted to Tygerwoody, he seems like he's got enough on his mind,m and I appreciate him sharing what he has, but I've been building a duelist up to 48 in HC following this and have been enjoying the results thus far.
Main skills I'm using are Dual Strike (w/Phys Dmg, Faster Attacks), Lightning Strike (w/Ele Dmg, Life on Hit, LMP), supported by Anger, Grace, and Decoy Totem, and I had a couple questions for whoever can help (when I get better sockets I'll be adding fire dmg to dual strike and faster attacks to Lightning Strike): 1. Static Blows seems really good for LS, buuut I'm not really sure where I could pull points from to make it work, cept for his path up to Finesse after Thick Skin (doesn't really seem worth it IMO). How much is Static Blows worth sacrificing for? Is it worth giving the templar zone the shaft, or is it not THAT good. 2. If I went for Static Blows I'd also be close to Inner Force, so it seems a bit tempting. 3. I assume people use gear to meet the Int requirements to use the Wrath aura or something... Do you just hope for Int mods on some pieces or are there particular items that can get you there? I grabbed the +30 int Savant node near Thick Skin just so I could keep leveling Anger, but I'm guessing that's not ideal. Muchas Gracias! Edit: After a bit of thought, I think this might work for an LS focused variant of his build: LINK Edit 2: Without inner force, I'm not even sacrificing HP. Exchanging Finesse for Static Blows seems like a no-brainer to me. LINK Is there anything I'm missing? Last edited by Zedon#0558 on Mar 21, 2013, 11:54:14 PM

Would flicker strike be sufficient for this build or is flicker strike good in general?
|

" Flicker strike is an ok skill. Very dangerous to use regularly though and it would have to be paired with frenzy (or blood rage) . I think flicker strike is better served with a shield + 1h build more than a dw build. |

" For a lightning strike build 2h is much better to use than dw. Insane 2h dmg weapons out there. Static blows of course is good but don't forget about point blank. Point blank +static blows + chain + lightning strike would melt packs. Last edited by Tygerwoody#2689 on Mar 22, 2013, 12:32:44 PM

" The build actually now includes fencing(after leveling). L/S is a waste of points. |

"Good to know. I just kind of liked how it's practically a ranged skill. Are Cleave and Cyclone the typical go-to's for DW-AoE or are there any other diamonds in the rough? |

" It depends on your playstyle really. Cleave and dual strike are by far the strongest dw in terms of dps. I like the flexibility of dw due to being able to use two different skills with two different weapon types. For instance, whirling blades is by far the best ability to use to avoid death situations. Whirling blades requires a claw , sword, or dagger. Glacial Hammer and Ground Slam for require a mace. Heavy strike requires an axe, mace, or two handed weapon. Let's say I want to use all four of those skills. Well thats easy, put a 1h mace in my main hand and a claw/dagger/sword in my off hand. I now have a ton of flexibility to use nearly any skill I please for what the situation dictates. Keep a few leveled melee gems in your inventory to hot swap depending on what I'm fighting. Sounds like it might be a pain but in reality it takes 2 seconds. I usually use the same 3 skills but when the time calls for it, I'll hot swap. So that answers the "skills" question everyone keeps asking. I use all of them. |
