"PoE Trade" NEVER ANSWER .....
" On this point Blizzard is right, as is GGG. AH's and offline trading fundamentally undermine core gameplay, on several levels. That is why I say if you played EQ before and after the Bazaar, and D3 before and after AH removal, you would understand - you would have experienced the difference, and the effects. D3 is a little murkier because it was an RMAH, and so people can still believe an AH would have been different, but that's been shown not to be true in other games (EQ being one). At this point it's not really subjective, it's been proven to be a strong negative. Last edited by t0lkien#7048 on Feb 1, 2019, 8:18:56 PM

they could always have a service to put our items up for sale with a buyout and people could just buy it in game or whatever and avoid the issues with player to player transaction. just make it have a set price.
that could resolve some of the issues. it would kind of be like an auction house, but more like a storefront. though even something like that would likely become a problem with all the botting going on, ud never find much of what u want cheap because it would all get sniped. i dont know. this system is alright but it does have flaws. i dont know how welcomed id feel about an auction house. it would save a bit of time but i dont know if it would be worth it in practice. i dont know a better method to deal with it though. " The way you answer this is a little suspicious. Specifically: the "if you want to buy a single map for 1 chaos while I am killing Shaper then you won't get a response". That's fair. No one - or at least not me - is expecting you to kill yourself trying to respond to a whisper. But the way you single out 1 chaos for a map makes it seem like your response would be different if someone was wanting to buy something of more significance. So instead of speculate, I"ll just ask: would you bother to answer someone back if they were wanting to pay you numerous exalts for something you posted? Because you are describing two very different things here. One is ignoring a poster because you are busy and can't respond. The other is ignoring them because you don't think the transaction is worthy of your attention. Last edited by Berylstone#2209 on Feb 2, 2019, 7:43:10 AM

" I just described it as a "little" annoying. It's not that big deal to me really. If someone doesn't answer I"ll just move on to the next one or try again later. But why not just change your status to busy or something when you are too busy to answer people back? That would have the same effect as that message you are referring to and wouldn't require a sustained effort on your part. |

" So, they removed "nasty AH", and D3 now must be coming up roses, right? Full of players, eager to play it again and again... Wait, it isnt! AH removal made things not much better. So here comes perfectly logical conclusion - D3 failed NOT because of AH. Blizzy made a scapegoat out of AH, instead of making deeper reserch into the game, and why it sucks. So they leaves shallow gameplay intact, as well as no currency sinks, poor itemization, character customzation worse that in MMORPGs, etc. PoE may encounter the same fate, if they continue doing nothing... " I'm telling you what Blizzard's official position is on why they removed the AH (both of them). Specifically: Because they felt that an AH (of any kind) undermines core gameplay for an ARPG style game. I don't care what the current state of D3 is. Nor is it relevant to your earlier point. You attempted to suggest that the D3 economy "failed". You attempted to suggest that this supposed "failure" was directly linked to the RMAH. You attempted to suggest that a game-gold AH is a universally good concept for inclusion in this, or in D3. I am pointing out to you that Blizzard's official statement disagrees with pretty much all of your assumptions. What the state of D3's "economy" currently is is irrelevant. I don't play the game any more. Blizzard failed to meet my personal gaming needs with that offering, and I refuse to throw good money after bad. I'm not interested in where they've taken it since the removal of the AH, because I consider the basic conceptual bedrock of the game to be too flawed to be worth saving (or more to the point, to be worth supporting financially). But my personal feelings on the game aren't relevant either. Blizzard's official position on why they chose to remove both AH's is. 'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

" Actually no, it's not two different things, it's one thing. I'm ignoring a poster because I am busy, and I can't respond because the transaction is not worth my attention. Let me lay this out in a simple way. If stopping to type in the middle of a Shaper fight has a chance of getting me killed, then I am FORCED to weigh up "Is this potential death worth what I being offered?". In this situation I have to decide if my 10% xp is equivalent to the potential profit. If the profit is 1 chaos, then nah i'm not gonna risk dying for it. 5ex on the other hand, well I don't know about you but I would risk a whole lot for that. This same concept obviously applies to the other mentioned situations (Losing a potential top 10 lab speedrun, Dropping a precious portal when doing U Atziri on a squishy build etc etc) The simple fact of the matter is that my personal way of dealing with the problem is Irrelevant. If we actually had a working autoresponse feature that didn't fuck with some other aspect of chat, then none of these problems would exist because I could just say /autorespond Sorry, i'm doing shaper right now so can't respond. Message me back in 5 if you still want to trade! The onus is entirely on GGG here. Players just make do with what they have. Also, just so there is no misunderstanding: If I am afk chilling in my hideout, then I will accept every trade regardless of how small it is. My beef is entirely with the lack functionality in automatic interaction while I am busy. /shrug Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.

" It was one of the reasons why D3 failed, but alas, NOT the only one! D3 economy has another serious problem - no currency sinks - that wasnt addressed at all. On top of that, D3 gameplay had major flaws - shallow itemization, everything homogenized, character build-up is simplier than in MMORPGs (where is plays FAR smaller role, than in ARPG)... Sure, economy affects enjoyment from the game, but it isnt the linchpin of ARPG. Fixing some economy aspects without touching gameplay flaws didnt made D3 much better, obviously. It looks like you said it too: " So please, fellow players, stop making a scapegoat out of trading. PoE has quite deep itemization and character buildup, if compared to D3 and like, and that's precisely why PoE feels better. Easy trade wont ruin that fact. But there is still a huge room for improvement, both in gameplay and trading aspects.
