Is there ever a reason to not start with arc trap or brand?

dont worry GGG will look at the stats and see what builds and popular and people enjoy playing. then they will nerf them all into the ground and add more massive RNG mechanics.

the 2nd parts true the 1st part really isn't if anything they like taking a random OP build and gutting it while simultaneously under the guise of a nerf, buffing blade vortex.

Pretty soon it'll only have 2 charges, and the second will do 1000% more damage and triple hit rate.

It's spectacularly more boring to stay any longer in the acts you've done 80 times any longer than you need to

As opposed to the maps you've done 800 times? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I managed to do shaper on a 70 brand elementalist albiet with completed gear and still one death but the gameplay was very smooth compared to having to hug shaper for barrage dps. The play experience is worlds apart.

Personally I just push to 12 and go dual poets until lvl 60+ or whenever the primary builds skill becomes viable. Granted you can just Poet with arc for 2x the laughability. It really does trivialize all of the content and leveling process to the point where I do not even need to look at the screen half the time.
You start with literally hundreds of chaos in act 1?

Either you're RMTing, or you completely missed the point of this thread

I RMT.
I normally try and level with the build I'm going to play, unless I know it's going to be so painful early on (e.g summoner) or impossible (CoC, somethig reliant on an endgame unique).
Bow levelling isn't so bad if you are happy to use different skills to start (Shrapnel/RoA), know to grab whatever flat damage you can and are happy to try and pickup/craft bows regularly.
If you don't see levelling as just a chore, it actually becomes more fun, as levelling drops actually become relevant.

I normally leave a bow char till later though as typically they need a bit more investment later anyway, plus twinked bow levelling is great fun (But that's a different topic)

.....

Are there any players who still start off with their main build instead of a arc/bv/brand mule?

There always is a reason for example: "I don't want to be a metaslave."

Yes I still start off with other builds because I hate traps with a passion and I only play what I like.

To be fair , brand / winterorb hybrids are super fun . you get the zaps and the shatters in equal measure :D.

If you are trying to be efficient then there is no reason to do anything but arc/ trap / brands.

spells are always better than attack builds for leveling because your dps source scales with you.. no need to look for a high dps weapon that costs 3 - 15 exalts when you can just by a 10 chaos wand or scepter with 4 -5 damage mods and call it a day.

And of the spells arc, trap and brands are at the top. simple logic says use them.

But not many people play these kind of games for that. Some just want to kill monsters in novel ways
